So i made my “first” game that took almost a year to build, called Clover Collecting but i need players to test it (just like an average game) and i’m looking for any feedbacks or improvements to enlighten the gameplay further !
Note: If it seems a little boring its normal, its only the first world
The Walking animation now applies when running until i can properly make and understand one, excpet for mobile users
The concept of collecting rare clovers sounds fun and I think it could work with some further development. Here are a few things I noticed:
If you turn your graphics down, it makes the grass not render very far, which makes it very easy to spot the glow of a 4-leaf clover from across the map.
When I picked up a few burning clovers, I wasn’t aware that my health was still draining after the fire effect disappeared. It would probably be good to make this visual effect permanent when you have burning clovers in your inventory.
The tutorial person mentioned me needing an old rusty thing from him, but it only appeared in my inventory after I died and respawned. I also already had another tool in my inventory that did the same thing (assuming spawning arrows above all the clovers in the map is a function of these tools and not something you can do without them):
The tutorial was somewhat hard to follow. Changing the text to a ScreenGui rather than a BillboardGui and making the text a uniform size (or at least change size less) at it’s being typed out would make it more comfortable to read. It would also be nice for the camera to highlight more of the things he’s talking about; there are a number of things he mentions that you can interact with, but the only one the camera moves to focus on is the portal.
When I interacted with the tutorial giver again, it took me a bit to figure out that my dialogue options were placed around the map (it’s an interesting concept though). It would be great if there were some kind of sound, camera, or UI effect you could add to make it a bit more obvious that that’s what’s going on.
Your feedback is really really interesting, lemme answer your given suggestions to ease your curiosity,
Graphics: i’m thinking about lowering the brightness of the 4-leaf clover, lowering the clover’s transparency, but increasing its range to make it harder to know where it is
Drain Health: Yes, the health drain is caused by picking up these burning clovers, therefore draining your health for a certain amount of time, i will soon add particles on it to let the player know how he loses his health
Tool Upon tutorial completion: wow, i scripted him to give the tool upon badge obtention but i’ll try to fix that!
Dialog Hard to follow: i completly forgot to change the chats and text-color of the tutorial, however i fix that but.. don’t know what else to use other than “textscaled” so i made the text better to read, changed some words and added highlight depending on what he talks about
For ScreenGuis, i practically never want to use them again, except for mobile players, it haunts me to use one so i guessed that clear billboard guis and proximity prompts would be good when used correctly (in which im also trying to do)
Options Hints: Thank you so much for the remark, i will immediatly add a hint to let the player know that he can choose the questions
Thank you for your feedback, i am extremely grateful for it (i forgot about the first tutorial dialog, and it indeed is hard to follow, i will change that asap)
Please Lmk if those things above have that good impact like your suggestion
Thanks to your feedback, i made huge improvements on Clover collecting, such as:
More options to choose from our Tutorial – information part,
At the end of the investigation with the [burning bush], the player will be able to know what he gained out of it,
First stage tutorial is now slower, with its font clearer to see
Clovers are now harder to detect from far away at graphics 1 (hopefully)
Burning Clover now casts a curse on your body, visible by the player and yoinks 95% (might change that aswell damn) of the player’s health to prevent afks, and will soon scale off player’s current burning clovers (making the system)
Upon interacting with the first dialog to choose Tutorial options, the npc will let the player know about these options placed on the field before spawning them,
The Tool not appearing after tuto completion was because i forgot a few lines, should be fixed now
Please try these improvements if you want, and let me knwo if you have any feedbacks, Deep thanks for playing the game and improving its gameplay @Lava_shield it won’t really be possible sorry, in the next worlds i’ll definitely add more details, different places where clovers spawn instead of one big area, thanks for that important reminder (deadass bro ty). @SubNegative The burning bush now shows what it has done, no more lack of details
Peace
