Is my game too far gone?

Hey all! I have been working on this game for the past month:

I had already spent hundreds on advertising, and I am starting to realize it was a waste of money.

I do want to keep working on this game, I like the idea, and I know it isn’t unique.
I have a few questions:

  • Is this project done? Is there any way I can make it stand out from others?
  • If I change the name, would this help?
  • I want to keep the current idea of “Passing On The Infection” in a tag-style game. However, I am willing to modify the idea to create a more popular game, which (hopefully) could be featured on the front page.

Overall: Is there anything I can change or do to improve my game’s performance while maintaining this style, or should I abandon this project?

Look at the game’s analytics on the creator dashboard. It pretty much tells you everything you need to know.

My advice for you is continuously sponsor the game using the Roblox sponsor dashboard until you start to see people joining through “Home Recommendations” in the acquisition page. Once you see people joining from this it means Roblox is promoting your game for free and you can stop sponsors / start to sponsor lighter.

Obviously if your game analytics are terrible, Roblox will not promote your game for free so the data they show you is extremely important and quite literally tells you whether to bother sponsoring or where you need to improve your game.

Importantly, you should also change the thumbnails weekly to try to maximise your Qualified Play Through Rate (through home recommendations) - only do this if you are getting home recommendations though.

Also just some further notes:

  • You are using modern Brainrot meme culture (e.g. Tung Tung Tung Sahur) but your game’s maturity label will restrict young children from accessing your game so perhaps the theme doesn’t fit your target demographic.
  • Your like to dislike ratio is not the greatest considering there is only a combined 27 votes, has anyone left any feedback on there?

I only recently added a feedback feature; other than that, no one has left any feedback. I do believe that most of the dislikes were from days when there were major bugs, but they have since been fixed.

I will sponsor one more time, and see how it does, and encourage users to use feedback.

Also, Thanks for the information.

No problem, I hope all goes well. Just remember to look at the creator dashboard to see your games analytics (they are usually 1-2 days behind).

Even though the idea isn’t unique, I liked the UI, it’s pretty clean and well done! I just think you could improve the performance a bit.

My feedback:

  • It prompted me to purchase a Gamepass, not sure if that was intentional or a bug.
  • The daily login reward frame still shows up even after I’ve already redeemed it for the day, maybe you could hide it if it’s already claimed?
  • A short onboarding/tutorial would be great, I didn’t know what to do when I first joined.
  • The areas that open frames (like stats) when touched are too sensitive, my character gets slightly close, and the frames pop up instantly. Since the movement is fast, it happens a lot.

I think a big reason people leave quickly is that they don’t know they need to wait for the round to start maybe making that clearer would help retain them.

Hope this helps!

My advice would be js about the same as others have said. Get rid of the popups, if i joined your game and popups were in my face i would leave pretty quickly, no offense. The other thing is decide on your audience. If youre aiming at younger kids, make the game for younger kids. If you want a slightly older audience then remove the things that only young kids would want. This is probably whats messing u up, best of luck with your game though

Hey, I just saw your post and thought that maybe you will benefit from using this tool.

I built it myself to help developers track what the players are doing in their games. It is pretty simple to set up and use, and it may give you insights on why players are dropping in your game.

If you have questions you can either message me through here or the contact form on the page. Happy to help get you set up.
