Is publishing a plugin when there is another plugin that serves the same purpose okay?

Hello. I am unsure if this is the correct category to ask this question, P.M me / reply here if it isn’t.
So, I’ve scripted a plugin, it functions well, but I figured out that there is another plugin which serves the same purpose. So, my question is, is that okay to publish a plugin when there is another one that serves the same purpose?

Yes, it’s totally fine. It’s great actually. Just don’t steal anyone’s code or other IP.
