Sponsoring games was the way to get players on your ROBLOX games back when it was first introduced. It’d slot your game alongside other front-page games and people would play it if you had a good thumbnail + good game. Back in 2017, when I was an inexperienced awful developer, I dropped 10k robux on a sponsor, got a 1% CTR, and still managed to amass a whopping 27,000 visits on my awful game. I’ve drastically improved as a developer over the years, I know I have the skills to make a high-quality game, but I don’t think it’s even worth pursuing because of the way sponsors work now. Sponsored games are now in their own category where you have to intentionally scroll down to see them. I don’t think anyone goes out of their way to play sponsored games, it worked back then because they appeared next to front-page games and people would click on them if they looked interesting. Now your sponsored games appear next to all other sponsored games, and half of them are obviously just desperate attempts at getting robux where they copy what all the other successful front page games do, so what’s the benefit of even sponsoring in the first place? I’ve heard stories of people dropping fatter stacks of robux and getting 20 plays on their sponsored game.

Getting players to play your game is all marketing, and sponsoring is only one tool. There are no guarantees in anything, and every day there is more competition because of more games released, so you have to maximise your chances with every tool in the arsenal.
