I’m making a game where I need the player to take pictures of their surroundings. If these pictures can be saved with Datastore it would be perfect!
The picture system I’m thinking of consists by taking your cursor to the desired position and a square lens (square frame) attached to it captures all the models it is hovering over, taking the picture when you click. I specifically need to know how to save the environment/picture/models inside the frame as you take the photo, and if ViewportFrames are actually a great alternative for this.
And, to be honest, didn’t know where to place this topic, If you help me it would be awesome! Thanks.
If you want more flexibility and like pain, you could like you said capture everything in a box and store it. For this take a look at GetPartBoundsInBox to spawn a hitbox infront of the camera and capture whatever is infront of the player, however this is less accurate as objects that are further away will be left out. This is why I suggested the former method first. If you still want to use this method you can capture all the objects in the bounding box and store the type and all its parameters in a table to be able to it retrieve later.
To my knowledge, and i could be wrong, there is no screen capture or record feature to use for games individually. Just the roblox pause menu ones. Capture service is only for the roblox capture and record which can only save to your device, not a datastore which is on the
Im no expert with viewports but my way of making a screenshot system would involve recreating what the user sees far away and have a viewport look at it. It will work but its veeeery inefficient and will slow your game down a bunch.
