Sorry if I shouldn’t post this here or at all. Three days ago, I randomly wanted to start a mini ‘project’, if you will, and was curious if I should continue to work on it.
It’s called Uptime Wars and the whole idea is you compete against other servers in uptime. You can earn uptime by
- Literally just sitting there
- Obbies
- Buying it
There’s also a playtime leaderboard, which the only way to get that… is to play (or by a random event).
The random event is something you can buy or get randomly, some of it’s bad and some of its good. The current random events are
The server’s uptime increases by one hour. - Good
The server’s uptime decreases by one hour. - Bad
Every player gains one hour of playtime. - Good
Every player loses one hour of playtime. - Bad
The server’s uptime changes by a random amount between -6 and +6 hours. - Depends on the amount.
I’m starting to think now it’s a stupid idea and there’s no point of it being a game, but I want other peoples feedback and suggestions. If it is a good idea, can I get suggestions on what to add besides sword fighting and obbies? That’s all there is, right now. Thanks. Sorry if the post is messy, very tired right now.

Hey! I just checked out the game, and I think the concept is decent but not marketable right now. There’s not enough to do to keep players engaged, and if you want the game to be a hit you need to keep players in the game for longer + spend more money.
What you could try sell the game as is “every second +1 (something)”. Could be speed, or size, or weapon strength. That would encourage players to stay in the server for longer. You could even add gamepasses to increase the speed/size/strength. I know this will be a bit different from what your game intends to be.
Just my opinion though! Just try give your players enough stuff to do to stay online. Try focus on the core loop of the game first

My main focus right now is to make things to keep players in the game. Originally there was going to be nothing, just a blank map. I had in mind those games you were talking about but I was drifting more away from that idea because it’s such a popular genre, I don’t know how it’ll do compared to the other big ones. I was trying to make something original, but not boring. It’s something original, but it’s boring!!
Maybe add it for a wheel to spin 1- (hjow many plyers u want) to happen, not just all.
What do you mean? Can you explain more?
Like for e.g PLAYER A (me/ u) is playin right? And a wheel spins to decide if i get a fate or you. Or more players
