Issues with Client Implemented Fullscreen

I am looking to see if this issue can be replicated on other users experiences.

In an experience I am working on, the ROBLOX client experiences significant input delay on camera movements and character movements, We do not utilise any sort of scriptable camera input, and the camera input is not modified in any way by scripts in game.

The issue we are experiencing is quite difficult to explain fully, however:

  • When playing the experienced in windowed view, there is no input lag.
  • When playing the game on a fullscreen view (by pressing F11, or the fullscreen button on a mac), there is significant input lag.
  • When playing the game on a fullscreen view, by changing the fullscreen option in the built-in roblox menu, there is NO input lag, despite the game being in fullscreen.

This has been replicated on multiple clients, on different platforms, and with the same graphic settings.

If anyone has any ideas or solutions, I would be incredibly grateful.

this is because

when you put the window into fullscreen, your computer has to rescale the game into the native resolution of the screen. this takes processing time by the cpu and gpu, and therefore you notice that the game “freezes” until it is finished processing

you can stop this, but there is a tradeoff.

you can either stop the window from scaling resolution by changing the option “fullscreen mode” in properties, or you can change the resolution in game to match the screens native resolution in which i assume would be either 1920 or 2560.
