Its possible to ip ban someone from game?

I believe that would be a great feature, as long as the ip cannot be directly read from by developers.
Instead, when attempting to do read it / print it, it would throw a lacking permission error.

Well, no its rather impossible to get someoneā€™s IP from a game. What I believe Roblox should add is, when you do the :Ban() script, it doesnt just ban the account, it should ban all accounts that are traced with the the same IP.

Iā€™m not trying to make myself look right, if you really meant it that way, then iā€™m sorry for the misunderstanding, but that was how i did read and understood your post.

From my knowledge, it is not allowed to share a Userā€™s IP, since itā€™s a personal information. IP can tell the User's personal address which is definitely dangerous for the User. From now, banning can be only targeted to a certain User.

Sad it isnā€™t because it could be useful for banning serious exploiters on an IP. But even if it was possible, most people would use a VPN to avoid the ban in game anyways. Or they would easily change their router IP without even needing a VPN

It is against TOS, but it isnā€™t necessarily illegal. Iā€™ve listed a few downsides to doing IP bans.

  • Against the Roblox TOS, as stated above ^^

  • Other people could be playing on that IP, perhaps two people share a internet, and have the same IP

  • Itā€™s not that hard to evade, you could just get a VPN

  • Most of the time itā€™s not worth it to IP ban unless someone is posting/doing really horrible, awful things that no one should have to see.

  • IP addresses are super personal, they can be used to identify a users general location or DDoS them.

Please tell me if anything in here is incorrect, I am not trying to misinform anyone.

I agree with what @Lorourkethebest Said, so I would suggest instead that we use a different system that allows someone to ban an account and its connected devices.
