forgive me if i’m being belligerent, because i don’t have a lot of web development experience, but woudln’t solving the spambot problem be as simple as just putting recaptcha on everything? or like… at least the signup form?

Nope, rechapta has been quit week lately.
I don’t even have to hit the button to get though it.
Meaning, it doesn’t help in the progress.
Already suggested a few times.
This was totally not a scam to steal accounts! Can we please like, do a ‘send message code’ people have to put in before sending messages so we can cut back on spam bots? Thanks.

An issue that have been plaguing users of Roblox recently is spam in their PM boxes. The spam tends to consist of messages that try to get users to join groups (Because they played X game, and they’re ‘experienced’). Sometimes, it can be used for malicious purposes (Such as sending cryptic messages to discourage players from playing a certain game, or trying to get users to go to phishing sites).
Example of spam:
Example of harassing bot-messages:
I think that a form of human verification (…
One of the biggest problems that I have seen with the catalog right now is botting of really limited items, it frustrates people who wait patiently only to see an item sold out in a few seconds.
A Captcha should be introduced to prevent this stuff happening in the future, it’s getting ridiculous.
I know, botters could always just have the Captcha come up on their screen ready to solve but that doesn’t warrant not introducing this, it is technically feasible that botters will still be able to a…

I have noticed some people complaining about bots buying the hats faster than anyone really get the chance to even reach the catalog page. Friend of mine suggested that adding a captcha and I thought it was an interesting idea so I decided to post it here.
Pros:
No more bots instant buying
Cons:
Will take longer to buy stuff
Realised I should probably have posted it here, so I moved the thread. Same stuff goes.
The idea is simple, and may solve the issue of pm botting.
Add a captcha you must answer if you sent more than 20 messages within an hour.
I’ve seen so many issues with pm botting, it needs to be addressed.

So PM bots are an issue, we all know that.
A solution I was thinking of is simply adding a captcha you must answer for every X amount of messages sent.
However, to add on to this idea, It will force you to answer a captcha more often if you add a group link into the PM.
So for example, I respond to 100 legitimate replies to people, then I must answer a captcha. However, if I sent say 20 mesasges that have a group link, every 20 messages with a group link, I have to answer a captcha, that way …
This is legitimately frustrating at this point. The video below literally explains it all:
Short explanation –
I went to my game to check the comments, only to find myself scrolling through literally just spam comments
for over 2 minutes and still getting nowhere… This is just ridiculous and extremely frustrating.
EDIT / NOTE
As I’m refreshing right NOW, more and more are STILL coming in!

it seems so glaringly obvious, is there any reason roblox can’t use it?
Hi.
We have taken steps over the years to reduce comments (and forum) spam. A verified email is already required for comment posting. Also the account has be 1 day old to post a comment. And we do have IP address floodchecking for account creation and post floodchecks.
All the bots you see posting comments have a verified email, have existed for more than a day, and used IP address masking to get past floodchecks. They are highly motivated to do whatever it takes to post comments, because it makes them money on the black market. They will adapt to post CAPTCHAs by hiring human solvers. They will adapt to game play requirements by having their bots play the game for however long it takes to meet the requirement.
We are not ignoring this issue. We’re working on shorter and longer term fixes. That’s all I can say about it at this time.
Also, not a good idea to tag random people.
