Just some casual appreciation

Probably should be in Lounge, but I’d like members to see it. Let me know if there’s a more appropriate category (ironic considering I’m a Community Editor, but whatever).

Hi there! In light of all the issues and sprinkle of negativity around the forum, just wanted to drop a casual message of appreciation for the developers striving to use the forum as a resource for sharing development strategies and utilities, as well as those who’re learning more about their fields.

I’m an avid programmer, but I haven’t had much motivation to pick away at projects so I often spend quite a bit of time here on the forum helping other users and doing some clean ups as a Community Editor. Before then, I was very active in the Scripting Support category with over 6,000 posts.

Thanks to the forum, I’ve been able to participate and give my opinion on topics that I’d normally keep quiet about or never even think of. They’ve helped shape some of the strategies I want to integrate to carry my development forward. Furthermore, I’ve been able to push myself to do things I thought I was previously incapable of by wanting to give the best quality answers I could in programming help. They have also led me to write a couple of tutorials on accomplishing things within the platform.

I just had the idea of sending out some casual appreciation recently after replying a recent support thread. It was on a topic I previously had a lot of trouble with and couldn’t even fathom the steps to begin working away at the problem, but I was able to teach myself and hopefully others then.

So here it is. To the forum members actively striving to learn and to those who continue to contribute either to this learning or to foster a healthy environment on the forum: thank you!

Hey! I’d also like to thank you to everyone who makes the forum a better place through supporting others.

I really like using the terrain editor, but I also haven’t participated in any major projects, so I’ve decided to try to stick around and converse in the forum.

The forum has let me share my voice on subjects that I could have never of dreamed of touching on if not for this community. I’ve met a lot of people and gained a lot of knowledge on how to grow as a developer and as an individual. I wouldn’t be here if not for this forum today.

I’m piping in to share my experiences here, since this thread now exists and I have a place where I can put my thoughts in.

I am in no way a easy person to put up with and haven’t been here for very long. But it’s been a pretty neat experience so far. Thank you to everyone who puts up with me.

Okay, enough about me and more on the community.

To everybody who positively contributes to this forum by sharing their knowledge, asking great questions, and create a fantastic atmosphere: thank you!

As a person growing in this community, I’d say it’s actually a pretty nice community, despite all the efforts to stop certain things like drama on the forums. You just accept the fact that there are many new members coming to the forums with good intentions, and they can make mistakes sometimes.

The forum has been a place where I come daily to read posts to learn, help, and get helped. I remember just a year ago, when I started getting into Roblox programming, and Studio in general, I had no idea what to do.

Hey, my script doesn’t work! I didn’t know about the forum back then. How did I discover the forums? Well, it’s kind of embarrassing actually. I had a problem with my script(because I didn’t know how to script), and I contacted Roblox Customer Support, I know, what does customer support even help you with. Surprisingly, they did help me, they linked me to this forum, and my journey began.

I really thank the people who help me on the way, I can still remember when I was a member and even caused some trouble(yes, many flagged posts). But, you have to learn from your mistakes, and I got better as time went on.

People helped me a lot, from the start. Although I don’t make many threads about helping anymore, I really want to give back by helping others, and I really enjoy it.

Ultimately, the forum is a place to learn, share, enjoy, and spread out creativity as a group.
This is truly the imagination platform.

I’d like to thank DevRel, DET, all of the staff members for making this forum what it is today!

And to the community. You’ve helped me grow up, get better at skills, get better at developing as a whole!

I remember my first days as a Member. I’d go to scripting support, get answers for my problems, and mark it as a solution. I also got “monthly feedback” for my game. Then I became better at scripting so I was able to pass on what I learned to other developers.

I remember my first days as a Regular. I was super happy that I could access lounge, and you can tell I was…

I was super happy that I could finally make Bug Reports/Feature Requests without using PA.

And now today. I’ve gotten my online friend into development after seeing a free model game he made. Maybe you’ll end up seeing him here! I’ve made my game 5x better, thanks to you.

A toast to all. :wine_glass:

Yeah definitely agreeing with everyone here.

Ever since forum was opened to the public last year it allowed for developers who didn’t have badass games, to have a voice. Opening the forum gave these developers a home after the old Roblox forum was removed.

It allowed me to receive help from others and give help to other users, whether it be in support categories or through tutorials, and it overall allows everyone to share experience and knowledge and such, which is invaluable.

So yeah, while questionable things have happened this forum is still a useful resource and place for developers on Roblox.

An appreciation thread I see, well here are my thoughts and points that I like the forum the way it is at the moment.

The Developer Forum gave people many resources, ideas and general discussion from members to sages to reply and create so they can gather feedback or something that they need as they can’t speak up for one another on other social websites or too their friends as a small developer.

For me, the forum has opened up a resource and category such as #platform-feedback and #development-discussion to ask many developers and create features to support game development or coding and asking the community “development” questions or threads that can help them answer a question one day. I really love having #platform-feedback a thing as that’s my favorite category to create topics since I have a creative mindset and very contributed to development across Roblox.

Being a basic ~ advanced programmer, or just a mild programmer as calling yourself “basic” or “advanced” doesn’t mean you are that title, it is tough sometimes and learn some tutorials or resources that could help me out a lot. Thanks to a couple of smart programmers on the forums who I met across different discord servers that are mostly regular users who I bonded a lot on the forums and then on discord. :flushed:

Even though the forum can be messy or weird sometimes, I am grateful for the Developer Engagement team, the sages/editors who contributed and set up the forums as it is today, and us users changing and thinking of new ideas for the forum and the development on Roblox.

To all users/staff who have done something great to us developers: Muchas Gracias, or Thank You!
