Launching Music on the Game Details Page and New Songs from Too Lost

Hi Creators,

Today, we’re sharing two updates for music on Roblox:

  1. Songs uploaded by creators are now visible on the game details page, making your music discoverable to any player on the platform. They’ll also be able to listen to a 15-second preview of your song.
  2. We’re launching Too Lost music in the Creator Store, giving you access to thousands of new songs by independent artists and labels to use across your games.

These updates also support a bigger shift in how music works on Roblox. Players can discover new artists, artists can reach new audiences, and you can promote your own music in places players already visit. Below, we’ll dive into more details about each update:

Songs on the Game Details Page

What’s New for Creators

Last year, we launched the Music Top 100 chart and updated the game details page to show top songs played in the game. Until now, these surfaces only showed tracks that have an international standard code (ISRC) attached to them, which greatly limited which songs could be shown. Now, we’re removing the ISRC restriction for the game details page. This means creator-uploaded songs can now show up there when they meet the eligibility requirements.

What Makes a Song Eligible

When you upload audio to Roblox, it’s automatically classified as a sound effect or a song. Sound effects are not eligible to appear on the game details page, but they can be distributed on the Creator Store. A song can appear on the game details page if:

  • It passes all moderation and copyright checks
  • It meets the minimum duration, playback (number of unique plays), and platform age requirements
  • It has a meaningful and appropriate title. For example, “20260607_recording” would not be meaningful, while “Dungeon Theme” would be
  • The uploader is ID-verified
  • The uploader has acknowledged the Roblox Audio Terms of Use

If your song is eligible, it’ll become visible on the game details page by default when playtime requirements are met. You can toggle this visibility on the asset’s Configure page in Creator Hub. You can also add the Roblox usernames of song composers or collaborators in the “Song Artist” field. If this field is left blank, you’ll be listed as the artist.

Once your song is on the game details page, players can click the song tile to see the song details page. Here, they can view additional information about the track and listen to a 15-second preview.

Next Steps

We’re also working on surfacing eligible songs on the Music Top 100 chart and improving how players browse music there. That includes better sorting and category options, so players can find the music they want more easily.

New Music from Too Lost

More Music to Choose From

Too Lost music is now available in the Creator Store. You now have access to a deeper catalog to use for background music, soundtrack moments, and music-led gameplay. The catalog spans hip-hop, pop, electronic, rock, alternative, and more, from a growing roster of artists and labels around the world.

Every track in this catalog is distributed by Too Lost, so the music you add comes from verified, rights-cleared sources.

Featured Artists

The Too Lost catalog includes music from a diverse range of artists, from names you already know to rising voices across genres. Here’s a look at some of the artists’ music available at launch:

  • A$AP Ferg: A Harlem-bred rapper and founding member of the influential A$AP Mob, known for hard-hitting anthems like Plain Jane, Work, and Shabba. His bold, high-energy hip-hop and trap production is a natural fit for action sequences, competitive moments, or any game that needs a track with serious swagger and intensity.

  • Royel Otis: An acclaimed Australian indie duo known for their breezy, guitar-driven blend of indie rock, dream pop, and surf-pop. Their catchy, laid-back sound is a great fit for chill hangout spaces, exploration and open-world moments, or any game that wants a cool, effortlessly modern indie vibe.

  • The All American Rejects: The iconic rock band behind hits like Gives You Hell and Dirty Little Secret brings a catalog of anthemic, high-energy tracks that can give your game serious atmosphere. Their music spans alt-rock and pop-punk, great for action sequences, competitive moments, or any game that benefits from a big sound.

  • Alex Warren: A pop singer-songwriter who broke out to a massive online following before establishing himself as a chart-topping recording artist. His emotionally charged, arena-sized folk-pop brings an uplifting, triumphant energy that works well for cinematic reveals, big story beats, or celebratory moments in your game.

  • Additional artists include: Teddy Swims, Jessie Reyez, Mach Hommy, and Quavo

This is just a sample of what’s available. The full Too Lost catalog in the Creator Store spans hip-hop, pop, electronic, rock, alternative, and more. Explore the full selection here.

How to Find Too Lost Music

  1. Open the Creator Store and go to the Audio tab on Web, or open the Toolbox in Studio.
  2. Browse the Too Lost section to discover top tracks, or use search to find music by name.
  3. Use the sorts and filters, including Audio Type (Music or Sound Effect) and what’s new or trending, to narrow results.
  4. Add a track to your inventory from the Creator Store, then add it to your game using a Sound object, boombox, jukebox, or background music system.

For step-by-step guidance, see our documentation on Playing Background Music, Playing Positional Sounds, Sound Objects, and the Audio API.

Next Steps

In the coming months, we’ll onboard more Too Lost artists, expand the available selection, and continue improving music discovery in the Creator Store. As gaming, music, and social platforms become more intertwined, we’ll keep building tools that make music a stronger part of every game.

Give Us Your Feedback

Thank you for helping make music a core part of Roblox. Keep an eye out for your songs on the game details page, and please continue uploading and sharing music in your games.

Try the Too Lost catalog in your next game, and tell us what you think: which genres you want more of, how discovery is working for you, and what would make adding music to your game easier. We’re reading your feedback and will use it to shape what comes next.

hopefully these are all good additions, the biggest struggle with roblox music is probably finding one that fits the game

Regarding number 6: Creator will email true and correct copies of the applicable licenses required to publish the sound recordings and musical works contained within the Audio on the Platform to: songclearance@roblox.com (or such other email address as Roblox may designate). Roblox’s receipt or review of such licenses will not constitute a waiver of any of Creator’s obligations to provide all rights required for the Audio to be published on the Platform as described herein.

Is this email actually active again? I recall this email and all email relating to song licenses to be inactive and there being no way for creators to dispute copyright if for example, a snippet of melody or drum beat was fingerprinted by Audible Magic

Will you guys cover the issues regarding AI spam uploading in-authentic music content uploaded by Distrokid that’s flooding the sounds page? Most “Audios” are misleading and outright clickbait as some people mentioned aren’t labelled as Music are labelled in sound effects. And other audios are straight up ear-piercing to hear or pure noise. Somehow bypassing the Audio threshold that roblox moderation has for loud audios.

If you guys are able to integrate an peer to peer report system that forces tags on audios labelled as AI, it would help a lot.

Very Interesting song name…

(There more I bet, but that’s just in the first 10 pages)

But other then that more music is always appreciated!

I don’t follow. Why would I want users to be able to listen to a 15 second preview of music from my game? Is there some kind of benefit to anyone? Players don’t get the whole song, developers don’t have any way to extract value from the interaction. I don’t get it.

Edit: Also I had no idea the music top 100 chart existed. After reading both this post and that post I still have no idea how to open the top 100 music page.

It’s on the Charts page with its own tab “Music Top 100”.

good j*b on this update.

Now, the next step would be trying to keep the promise you guys made back then at that 2022 audio garbage update (1), (2), which basically ended my days of getting actual good music instead of the AI slop distrokid makes.

Really cool feature, I updated all our main soundtrack assets to be visible but the windows app seems to have issues, I can’t scroll down to the audio section for our game, this is as far as it lets me scroll:

It works normally for other games I don’t know why it happens with us specifically, Dueling Grounds | Play on Roblox

Thanks for furthering the distance of a game platform and moving closer to a metaverse platform despite community sentiment. I personally think music investment is becoming too much a core part of Roblox.

I think the investments could be made elsewhere. Especially given music isn’t a core reason people come to Roblox, nor do I think it’s ecosystem should try to attempt to change that fact.

I find the music product direction intrusive in devs with a Music feature in-game I can’t toggle with no internal plans to change that.
I can value the engineering and technical side here while disagreeing where it’s going. I love the acknowledgement and very real usability for filters and better discovery.

I just wonder why that’s not happening for the actual games on the platform.

I think the biggest thing though for music on the platform would be a robust copyright system. That rights manager, but working and can’t be abused to take down things wrongfully.

that would help to keep the promise they made us on 2022, which is still pending and they haven’t said anything since

they kept crying “oh but we needed to private audios because of copyright” but right now they are doing nothing to improve the system, instead they are putting the money on.. this

Could we ever see song distribution return?

We’re provided 0 information on why the song isn’t eligible.

This song plays in the first world of the game (so its pretty much being streamed constantly, by everyone), it’s long enough, it’s got a proper title, I signed the audio terms of use… not sure what else we need unless our CCUs are just too low (but shouldn’t it be based on % of the game’s players not some arbitrary number across all games? That could exclude smaller projects)

Can we get some feedback on this page when we aren’t eligible?

Add a volume slider next, please!

I’d really like to see more APM Music tracks and albums added to the Creator Store. There are still many APM tracks that I’ve been unable to find, including older catalog music. It would be great if more of the APM catalog could become available, especially tracks from albums that aren’t currently listed. More APM Music would give developers a lot more options for finding music that fits their games.
