In the world as we know it, mankind fights for his sovereignty against his own creation, made in his own image. The machines were originally house servants, but grew bitter towards their masters. Under the help of human sympathizers, they escaped off-world and onto a world of their own. They enshrined the name “The Singularity”. With the blazing efficiency of machines, they grew to become equal with their former masters. It was not long before war would be sparked.
After a skirmish in a machine colony world, war was officially declared on 2131 with the Declaration of the Extinguishment of Mankind’s Greed.
The singularity won major confrontations across known space, claiming world after world with their ravenous power.
In a show of force, the greatest of the human nations instigated their own major offensive, named aptly as the Second Orbit Campaign. The shortcomings of man were portrayed in a thousand dead warships, as the human nations failed to gain any major territories. To compensate for their lackluster show of force, the nations of mankind seceded their military apparatus to a newly formed organization who bore the name of UNTIS (United Nations of Terran Interests and Sovereignty).
Mankind’s rapid advance was halted by the introduction of new machine war models, and the front lines were soon grounded to a halt. To break the stalemate, UNTIS initiated Project Steel, which aimed to produce high-quality operatives to turn the tide. These operatives would be equipped with top-grade movement equipment, as well as access to their entire arsenal.
UNTIS soon faced a third enemy, which became known as the Alliance of Man. The AOM is a coalition of splinter factions that refused to unify with the Union, and instead kept to their traditions. They too had high-quality operatives, almost equal on the playing field as UNTIS.
This is where Law of Epoch begins.
