Legacy Inventory V2 API's asset endpoint no longer allows the DELETE method for accessories

previously you were able to use https://inventory.roblox.com/v2/inventory/asset/{assetId} to delete accessories if provided with the “cookie” and “x-csrf-token” headers. at least 2 days ago (based on this reddit comment) this functionality was removed suddenly with no notice and the Swagger docs still only bar you from deleting limiteds and accessories published by Roblox which leads me to believe that this is a bug

this endpoint now returns 403 code 3 “This item is not allowed to be deleted.” from both Swagger and cURL (and all other methods of http requesting) for all accessory types as far as i can tell
i apologize if this is intended behavior, but please let me know if so!!

We’ll take a look thanks. Unannounced breaking changes are not great and we typically avoid them, so we’ll see what happened here.

Can you indicate what the impact is to you, what kind of use cases did you achieve with this API with the behavior beforehand?

this was previously used by extensions (i.e. RoSeal) to bring back the now removed accessory deletion button feature, and generally i used it as a way to remove old accessories i dont use anymore

it’s really just a preference for me since i like my inventory looking clean, more of a quality of life than anything, but there are (given the reddit post) other people who also used this endpoint prior to this bug

thanks for having a look!

Thanks for reaching out and we apologize for the inconvenience here. We needed to correct this oversight immediately and were not able to notify in advance for this change. Deleting 3D UGC accessories was not intended to be officially supported functionality for this endpoint. To ensure consistency with how these assets are managed across our systems, we have patched this. Again, we apologize for any inconvenience this causes.
