After seing unexplainable lag spikes in my game i have decided to dig deeper into it and found out that when more parts are loaded there are x4 more fps compared to when there are less parts loaded. In the repro place i have made 2 modes one with less parts and another one with more parts which contains exactly the same parts as the one with less parts with the only difference being of it having more parts. In the video you can see when looking right at the parts with the less parts mode the fps drop to around 25 but when doing the exact same with more parts the fps is at 80.
After some trial and error, I noticed a strange pattern of how to repeat this bug, at least on my machine FPS drops only appeared at the invisible point 0,0,0 appeared on my screen barely seeing that it was enough to kill my fps and the slowly rotating camera away from it fps returned despite the same view of the parts, and It’s was only happening looking from below, upwards to the center
95% of the lag from looking at the world origin with weird angles is gone now, but occlusion culling still lags quite a bit when hiding around 400k parts (ryzen 5 5500, rtx 3060)
We are closing this thread. Your issue is likely not the same as the original dev’s, since that one was fixed.
Please open up a new bug report and provide a repro file if you’re able.
