Lighting Technology Forcibly Changing to Voxel

Recently my friend has been trying to play my games on roblox, however they have encountered an unexpected issue in which their lighting technology is being forcibly changed to Voxel in the Roblox Player despite the games being set to Future and not using any of the beta lighting features.

Their computer is good (Ryzen 7 7700, RTX 4060, 32GB ram, Windows 11), and the only time I’ve heard of this issue in the past is when someone has a bad computer that can’t run the game. It’s worth noting that this issue does not occur in Roblox Studio. They also keep their computer regularly up to date using Windows Update.

We’ve tried several things, including reinstalling Roblox, which would fix the problem only the first time they play a game. After leaving that game and rejoining, the issue returns and does not go away. I have also checked and confirmed that they are using their GPU, not their integrated graphics. Their drivers are also up-to-date. They are also not using any 3rd party software (like bloxstrap) that could influence this. Furthermore, I have confirmed they have hardware acceleration enabled and are using the High Performance power plan on their computer. We have also tried launching the game from both the website and the desktop app to no avail.

After trying everything listed above, we tried resorting to Bloxstrap to force the lighting to be changed to Future. Believe it or not, it still didn’t work.

We seem to be exhausted of straightforward solutions and I don’t want to force them to reinstall windows. Can anyone share some wisdom about this?

this can happen since Auto quality setting sucks, try setting it to manual and to 10 quality
for me normally it defaults to ~7 but i set it to 10 and still max out my framerate at 60fps

It’s happening to me too. in studio it looks perfectly fine, but i go in game and it looks like my game went back 12 years, graphic settings are manual set at 10

We already have quality set to maximum. We were able to sort of solve the problem by installing the Microsoft Store version of Roblox and play on that instead despite the fact that it’s more inconvenient.
