Limit on how quickly a game can change names

People should have to wait 30-60 minutes before they can change a games name again. People don’t need to change game names all that often, and this would help stop the bait and switch games that rely on changing their name and icon every 5 minutes to keep new players joining.

This would only lessen the problem and not fix it. Instead of changing every 5 minutes, they’d be changing every hour or two which would still be a significant issue.

Changing a game’s name should shut down all servers. This ensures:

  1. The problem with bait/switch name changing is completely solved
  2. People aren’t putting “NEW!” or garbage like that in their title
  3. Developers pick a final name for their game before releasing it

I like the idea of shutting down all servers when a games name changes. People really only need to change game names when they update, so you should be shutting down all servers anyway.

Titles are not the place for updates in the first place, and you do not need to broadcast updates in your title to gain traction – look at the front page and almost none of them have that.

Constantly changing titles is bad. How many “Updates!” text in titles do you see here?

I’d rather have 2 free game name changes a month (spread out) and pay 50R$ for each additional change (max 5) but hey ho

I’m guessing this is mainly aimed at clickbait games. Waiting 30-60 minutes to change name/icon/thumbnail is going to have zero effect.

It’s just a mere inconvenience.

I dont put “uPDdaeT1!” In the title, I put what the update was. And Im not about to stop, nor should my game get shut down just because I changed the title.

That would just punish poor game starting developers. 50 robux is nothing to everyone else, clickbaiters included.

Reasonably, you shouldn’t need to change your game name more than 2 a month anyway.

Frankly I think we need a rule that restricts your game title from including tag spam/clickbait (i.e. UPDATE, ADMIN, SALE). And I think we could really use a “game version” number value but I guess it’s okay to put it in the title.

Why impose limits on people that arent abusing titles?

It could just be if you change your games title multiple times within a time frame all the servers get shutdown.

Disclaimer: I don’t agree with anon80475429’s suggestion

but there’s no way to tell the difference between people who are abusing titles and those who aren’t aside from manually checking them. ROBLOX doesn’t want to have to constantly police the front page (and won’t if you haven’t noticed yet).

Personally I would like to see a update log of sorts and a system for following the development of a game so you could see what kind of changes have occurred as they come out on your main page list thing.

Thats not a good idea. Servers should never be shut down on someone unless there has been due process to determine that the game should be shut down. Have a report go to roblox instead and they can investigate, but a server should never be shut down automatically
