The Chat and Party tab should be pretty real time now. We made these changes recently. Before it would take a couple minutes to update if someone came online / went into game. Now it should take 5-10 seconds (and we’ll continue to try and make it more real-time). There are still a couple bugs that we’re sorting out, but after that we’ll start updating your friends’ status dynamically (friends list on homepage, friends profiles). At least that’s the plan.
