LOD Objects Remain Loaded and Unchanged at All Distances

The Issue

  • In our game Springs Rock we have been seeing LOD issues occurring over the past couple days. We thought the issue may solve itself quietly and quickly but noticed it had been persisting for a while.

Appears In-game, Cross Platform

  • It’s important to note we don’t see any of these issues in studio and that they only appear in-game, and they appear regardless of your device (PC and Mobile).

  • We do not feel comfortable sharing our game file, However we do have some suspicions that it could be our game architecture or the new beta release of SLIM. (Our game architecture contains a lot of nested folders and models)

Visual Aids

  • Provided below are pictures of the issues occurring in game. It’s important to note these are not the only areas affected.

Another area, LOD remains always

Do you have clusters of buildings (not necessarily buildings as you’ll see in the second example) grouped together as a Model with some clusters being somewhat further apart?

Had similar issues in an old game I was working on, turns out this big LOD was a model with objects across the map. Ungrouping them fixed the problem.

Thanks for suggesting a fix, I am going to try that on the game above, and if it works I’ll update here

Our solution was a bit weird, however I just ran a bit of code that converted all Models LevelOfDetail to “Automatic” and its all fixed now.

Run this in your command bar

for i, v in game:GetDescendants() do if v:IsA("Model") then v.LevelOfDetail = Enum.ModelLevelOfDetail.Automatic end end
