Looking for a way to make an LED light strip

Hello developer fourms!

Im looking for a way that I can make an LED strip that looks like christmas lights. Im trying to use the Rope Constraint but starting to question whether it is a good choice. I would love to know if there are any free plugins I can use, or even a feature I dont know about?

If you search up rope making plugin there are quite a few that can generate ropes that you can then place the lights on.
