Looking for feedback for Dimension Defenders

I’ve started a public testing phase for Dimension Defenders and I’m looking for people that would be willing to help test it.

Items I’m looking to investigate:

  1. Engaging: Does the pacing of the levels and power feel good?
  2. Difficulty: Too hard? Too easy?
  3. Understandable: How difficult was it to know what to do?

I’m also concerned about lag and/or performance.

And of course, anything else that you notice that I should investigate, I’m happy to take all feedback.

Hey, pretty cool game! First thing is I really like the simplicity of the game but it’s pretty engaging in the core gameplay and graphics, which I think are your strongest points. I would look to improve your UI; it doesn’t match the quality of the 3D assets, and it’s pulling the game down a little. I would also look to make your sound design better in terms of SFX, as they sound like free assets. Even if they are, you could look to tune them up a little or purchase a cheap asset pack with higher quality.

In terms of gameplay, the initial flow of the game was engaging, but quickly becomes uninteresting. I’m not sure if there were more complicated patterns than the squares coming towards you, but more interesting movement patterns or something of that sort would make it more engaging. The difficulty was a little too simple, but your strength is that it’s very easy to find out how to play. Maybe streamline the process of guiding the player to the chair with a waypoint to help those who won’t have the attention span to read.

Finally, I couldn’t really understand when I was dealing extra damage. I figured maybe it was just a random crit chance, but while I was experimenting with trying to replicate the extra damage, I tried out predicting the path of the square and trying to make my bullet hit right on where it would land. This felt pretty engaging and if there was an extra bonus, like damage or something then it would feel really rewarding and skillful, so I would really consider adding that mechanic in.

I feel honored from the comment on the 3d assets vs the UI. I made the assets from scratch while the UI is from an asset pack. I’m glad its not the other way around hahaha! I can see what you mean about the UI vs 3D assets. I’ll work on improving that as well as the other points you mentioned like the SFX sound quality.

That is a great feature idea for the damage. I’m going to seriously consider on how I can make that happen. Currently the damage increases when you add power levels between waves and there is a critical chance that does extra damage. It seems like it would benefit the game if I made those critical hits more juiced so its easier to tell when that happens.

Hey bro i just finished the testing and it was amazing I will definitely play it again I also went to some other players and they all also said it was amazing and unique it had a nice tycoon/fighting arena feel… There was no problem with it at all I also went and asked a player what would he like added to the game and he replied “a bow or staff as a long range weapon because he wanted to attack from the castle” also one more thing is that the animations are amazing but I did not quite understand how to conveyor worked so if you could clear that up it would be nice… also could you add a sort of multiplayer feature I would love that
Overall 9/10 would totally play with my freinds and everyone should try it

Also could you add a bit of like space ambiance or music to make the game feel a bit more like you are protecting the galaxy and make the jumps a bit higher to give a space feel!!! I loved the game

Multiplayer is so important, that is a good suggestion. We are currently working on adding that capability right now.
