Looking For Feedback On My Dev Hub Alternative

Hello everyone, I’ve been working on a Dev Hub alternative for the past couple weeks, and I’m looking to get some feedback on it. It’s still very early in development, but the core functionality works now.

One thing that’s always annoyed me in Dev Hub is that the galleries just disappear when you leave the game. This is not the case in my Dev Hub. Instead, it has a lobby system where you can make and join persistent galleries, which are hosted in separate places. It’s not completely useless to stay in your gallery though, since people can see when the owner is currently in the gallery. Likewise, you can also see if there’s people playing a gallery from the lobby.
I’m also planning to create a discord bot which would inform you anonymously when a player enters your gallery so you can show them around.

These galleries are also much more customizable than Dev Hub galleries, since I also provide you with a trimmed-down version of BTools. Right now you can only move displays, but I’m planning to expand that as development progresses. Currently it also only has one display shape, on which you can only put games, groups, decals and text on. But that’s also going to change in the future. I’m imagining displays for UGCs, clothing, models and gamepasses, but I’m open to suggestions for more as well.

I’m also planning to add comments similar to Better Discovery to galleries and the ability to send private messages to offline users.

The one thing I’m not sure about though is monetization. I’m generally very much opposed to more intrusive monetization tactics, so the only thing planned is a sponsored segment in the lobby, which would allow you to purchase a subscription to get your gallery featured in a sponsored segment at the top of the gallery list. Everything else seems disgusting to me.

PM me if you have some feedback, I’d love to know what you think.

If you want to get notified for updates you can join the Discord.

Neon flooring is… a choice.

If the goal is for the developers’ work to stand out, the floor should likely be as plain as possible so that the players’ attention can be focused where you want it: on the work.

That was their choice. They made it like this.

Fully customizable! Very cool.

I think that allowing developers to make their space what they want is actually a very good way to attract developers into the space.

peakest game ever beats devhub by a landslide (check out my room)

maybe add a color wheel instead of just entering RGB to change room colors

Yeah, that’s already on the list. I need to redo the customization terminal anyway and add materials and stuff.

heres some other things i would like to see:

  • filling this little blank space, should be easy
  • enhanced quality on the icons (might not be possible)
  • different choices of room layouts
  • searchbar

these are probably already on your list, but still thought i would share. keep up the good work!

Yeah, most of them are. But I appreciate it anyway.

This Dev Hub alternative you have made is AWESOME! Great job on it! How long did it take you to recreate it? I rate it 9/10! It’s cool!

It’s not so much a recreation as it is a completely different system, aside from the displays really. And even they are obviously different from Partology’s Dev Hub.
As for how long it took to make, it took about a month so far if you include the backend and everything.

I was going to play it, but I saw this :joy:

NEGATIVE DISLIKES?? HOW.

Also, you can V-Pose clip through some walls.

it’s too good for roblox, they needed to control it

I saw you made a gallery but your games wouldn’t load. Does this keep happening even when you rejoin? We’d need to do some testing if so.

I haven’t tried rejoining, but the games wouldn’t load when I tried to add them.

Alright. If this happens again, try opening the console. Maybe there’s some error there.
