Lost 60% of my followers in a minute

Yesterday I had noticed that my followers had dropped by 5.1k (from 8.2k down to 3.1k) within a page refresh. Almost all of my followers were non-botted and gained from a little game I made, about 1k - 1.5k was botted by an unknown user while the game was on front page in 2021. I also can’t view any other pages of my followers apart from the first or it will just endlessly load.

I’ve seen threads discussing similar issues but everyone who encountered it has mentioned that it was just a visual bug and your actual follower count gets restored after an hour or so. It’s been 24+ hours since I noticed this issue and I’m still at 3.1k followers.

If I do manage to restore my followers to the correct value is there a way to mass block / remove botted followers? I attempted this a year or two ago with the 1k botted follows but gave up after individually blocking 50 or so bacon accounts and losing my patience.

Thanks in advance.

I lost exactly 50% of my followers.. in the same boat. 34k to 17k. Not complaining (I don’t want bot followers), but I am just curious as to why so many bots were following me in the first place. That’s a huge % of fake accounts.

In my situation though I have lost 5.1k followers and I only had about 1k - 1.5k botted followers that someone had targeted my account with. The vast majority of my followers were organically gained and I can’t even check to see if the botted followers were removed or if it was all real accounts because my followers list does not load beyond the first page.

Years ago there was a lot of bot following that was happening randomly, they were doing that to be able to message you, and then flood you with spam messages.

What does following actually do? I’ve never known

Following correctly got no purposes (Besides allowing them to see your status, inventory, joining etc per privacy settings)

10k followers used to be a requirement for the verified badge for game devs but was replaced, so it currently doesn’t have a real purpose

Ah I see! Good thing I had messages turned off for non-friends at the time

They still got a bunch of bots on me, but this was in 2017-2019 ish everyone had this going on.

add a fly bossfight with me in it trust

It’s not a visual bug, it’s just getting rid of all bot followers.

If you want to test if it’s a visual bug or not; paste this into your browser or command bar in Roblox Studio (using HTTP get request)

https://friends.roblox.com/v1/users/{userid}/followers/count

This uses the Roblox Friends API & you’re testing the backend to see whether it’s just a “visual bug”

I used your userid @larpaholic & it returns 3,143, so it’s not a visual bug, definitely Roblox clearing bot accounts. It’s also happening to me, I lost like 1k at the moment & it seems like it’s doing it slowly.

I think you’re right about this but I’m not sure why a bunch of my real followers were flagged as bots. Thank you for your help.
