We were told in the post announcing Age Checks to the Forum and the removal of the lounge that the Lounge would be archived.
Recent changes show it as being deleted, not archived. When visiting former lounge links you are met with a “This page is private.”
Expected behavior
Instead of deleting the lounge, Forum Moderators actually follow what they told us and make all Lounge posts unlisted & locked so that the content still exists but it’s archived.
Top 10 Roblox moments
I’m not surprised. They tried to push adult games on a mainly kids platform. My likely guess is that they didn’t want their investors or whatever seeing the extremely terrible and unprofressional posts on the forum.
I think them doing this broke the DevForum greetings message entirely, because now people who register on the DevForum no longer even receive a message from @discobot and has now made the “Certified” and “Licensed” badge no longer obtainable since the 13th! If any of you check your original completion screen, it straight up is just completely broken now!
Hey, I’ve discussed with the product managers to ensure there was no misunderstanding about how the changes were executed. This is the intended behavior.
I can see reading back the announcement how this was confusing. We should not have used “archived” and “removed” interchangeably. I’ll forward the feedback regarding how the announcement was written.
If you have a strong need for specific posts in Lounge to still be visible, I would recommend filing a Forum Help > Forum Features about it explaining your problem and how this negatively impacts you as a creator. I’m happy to forward it to the product manager.
I know that’s not what you all want to hear, but I wanted to be transparent here that this is intentional. Apologies for the inconvenience.
Personally, I believe it’s for the better that it is removed completely. There were barely any good posts in that category. I would even personally completely delete it instead of making it private.
If you want my opinion, removing lounge is nuts. They are removing the main and most influential way that the developer community interact with each other and express overall opinion. But then I didn’t make much of a commotion because Roblox is dead to me anyway, and at this point I do not care
We reverted it to the situation about a ~year ago. Development Discussion category is fine to keep with new safety guidelines because its primary purpose is related to creation rather than purely social.
