MacBook Pro device banned - no explanation provided, requesting help

Issue Summary

My MacBook Pro has been device-banned from Roblox Studio. I received a support response (Ticket #148903678) stating the device was banned for “severe violations of Community Standards” but no specific reason was provided.

My Situation

  • I am a Roblox developer who uses Studio for game development
    • I have two Mac computers:
    • Mac Studio → Works normally, no issues
    • MacBook Pro → Device banned, cannot log into Studio
    • I have never used any exploits, cheats, or unauthorized software
    • My account appears to be in good standing

Error from Studio Logs

When attempting to log in on the MacBook Pro, the Studio log shows:

Error [FLog::UserContextController] Mac addresses is banned
Error [FLog::LoginController] Login error: 'User is moderated, please check website for more details.'

What I’ve Tried

  1. Contacted Roblox Support - received a template response with no specific explanation
  2. Cleared ~/Library/Logs/Roblox/ and com.roblox preferences - issue persists
  3. Asked for human review in my support ticket reply - waiting for response

Questions

  1. Has anyone experienced a similar device ban that was resolved?
  2. Is there a way to appeal a device/hardware ban specifically?
  3. How can I find out what triggered this ban?

Any guidance would be appreciated. This is frustrating as a developer who relies on Studio for work.

I’m in the exact same situation! MacBook Pro device ban as well. I was working on something as recently as last week and suddenly last night I was unable to login and saw the same logs.

After some digging into this, it doesn’t seem like there’s much we can do which is pretty insane. They don’t review or reverse these device fingerprint bans, and they don’t go into why to ensure their internal checklist of what gets you banned remains private.

My only hope is that there are more than just you and me. They must have relaxed the requirements to consider a device banned, and I’m hoping there was an error here that made it too relaxed accidentally and if enough people are affected and vocal about this they may look into it. So to anyone else reading this that this may have happened to, make some noise please!

Good news, I am able to login to Studio! Should have checked again before posting. To be clear I had the same logs and same response from customer support, so it’s strange I’m suddenly allowed to login again.

Best guess would be they either released some change that would impact this moderation or some external factor changed that caused this issue to occur, they saw a major uptick in support issues regarding this, investigated and fixed the issue for affected devices.

I’m just happy my livelihood doesn’t depend on a Roblox game, if that was the case and this happened to say I would be pissed is an understatement

Thanks for the update! I can also login now. Looks like this was a system-wide false positive affecting MacBook Pro devices.
