I’m making this fast because I have 2% of battery.
I want to make a game which might have skins, but I thought about if i should make skins or accessories. Skins would be a full set of accessories (Like fortnite or arsenal). And with accessories I mean that you can change you shirt, you hat, etc (Like roblox). So I should use skins or accessories, clothes? Thanks for reading.
Whether your cosmetics consist of a single skin or multiple categories of items is a big “depends” in regards to both what your game is trying to achieve and what your resources are.
99% of the time, there is no one silver bullet to questions like these. Sometimes one option is correct, other times it’s the second option.
My game is about Megagames (Aka Big minigames) And i like to add cosmetics to customize. Im the only guy who is creating this, and i have enough resources to create something like this.
What i mean with skins: Something like fOrNiTe or Arsenal skins, i think you know both games and how skins work, right? With accessories: like the Roblox current avatar system, have accessories, clothes, etc.
I hope this help, pls, i hope that help. ewmifnewfomomp
I divined what you meant by skins & accessories. The downside of various accessories is that it’ll be a fashion disaster. People will pile on all the rarest things and make the game look like an endgame MMO social hub. They also feel less impactful to players since 1 accessory is only 1 part of a larger whole.
Skins look much nicer and give you more control over how your game looks, but its also a lot more effort for less content since 1 skin could have been 3 accessories. Skins will also have a larger value to a player since it is, in a sense, greater than the sum of its parts.
If you want more content for less effort and see player freedom as a plus for your game instead of a minus: go with accessories.
If you’re ok with less content in exchange for higher quality and higher value, probably skins.
