I am a new scripter and has little idea on client-sided stuff. I want to make a teleporter that is only accessible on the client. I had it already made, but scripting it is the hard part. I have tried several times but to no avail. Is there any way I could do that?
i’m not sure if this is what you’re looking for https://create.roblox.com/docs/reference/engine/classes/Player#RequestStreamAroundAsync
Could you expand a little bit? You say you had it already made, but scripting is the hard part? Does this mean you have a model, or you made it previously but can’t again. Also, what is the use case for making it client-sided?
I not quite sure what your asking for exactly. if you want a client only teleporter you just need to call a remote event to the server which handles moving the player.
Okay, so previously I have made a sort of system so when a certain message in chat is said, it causes, LOCALLY, an event to occur. This also makes the teleporter spawn on the clientside. my goal is that I want this teleporter to be able to teleport the player who had said that particular message, when it is touched. I’m a little stupid on the subject, so please bear with me.
I’ll see what I can do. I’ll update on this.
Update: no errors but not working.
if its chat based wouldnt it be easier to manage it on the server?
It’s based on a riddle, and if you get the riddle correct, the teleporter spawns and your player can proceed. I don’t want it to just allow everyone to go into the teleporter, only those who had solved the riddle correctly. This is more simple than my previous explanations, but hope it works.
you can do a check to see who should be able to use it, if its fully client sided then people can just skip the full puzzle
I still don’t understand. I apologize. I’m stupid on stuff like this.
if the client has the knowledge then the client knows the answers
if the server verifies to let the client pass then you can safely make the system
I tried what PickleIsHigh said, and I got an error stating “Infinite yield possible on Workspace:WaitForChild(“TRANSPORT1”)” Transport 1 being my teleporter.
I already had most of it worked on, and this would make it stressful especially with my limited time at the moment. I am sorry.
I got an error stating “Infinite yield possible on Workspace:WaitForChild(“TRANSPORT1”)” Transport 1 being my teleporter. Can you explain how to fix this? Even though it’s in workspace it doesnt detect it. This is in a localscript btw.
Are you using RemoteEvent to create a teleporter on the client of the player who wrote the command in the chat?
Yes, that is exactly what I did.
would i would do is not care about any teleport parts on the local script only telling the server to teleport and just fire the remote event when the player says the right thing.
That’s not what I intended really, imagine a crevice that shakes in the ground, and when I say the command, the crevice stops shaking. And then when I touch it, I am teleported to another area. That’s the whole gist of it.
If your game doesn’t have serious anti-cheat, you can actually register touches and move the player client-side. That approach will work. The only catch is you can’t use the Touched event on the client - you’ll need to run workspace:GetPartsBoundsInBox() in a loop every frame to detect when the player touches the teleporter
I am getting incredibly stressed over this, so I am starting over.
