Making special mesh slight glow

I have a part thats a special mesh and im trying to make it glow but putting the material to neon doesnt do anything, p.s the part is over the limit of 500 studs thats why im using a special mesh.

Ive already added a highlight to it but its not what im looking for
im making earth btw

Unfortunately neon doesn’t apply normally to specialmesh parts. I’m not sure what exactly you’re going for but here are a few suggestions:

If it’s a space game, you can just have the earth rotate and the suns light can reflect half of it.

You could use a regular mesh and try to fake the size by decreasing player sizes… or if its first person have their camera move very slowly so it appears larger.

You could try and add several large light parts around it and try to smooth our the glow with bloom

This is a really janky trick, which is kind of a glitch on Roblox’s rendering engine they haven’t fixed in… forever, basically?

But, you can make the reflectance value of objects higher than one, and if it reaches sizes like 100 or 1000 it can almost glow like a neon part (putting it to Inf gives you complete void black)

However… the color of the part shifts to the opposite of what it is currently.

With the lack of screenshots it’s hard to see what the mesh actually looks like. However, if your mesh it textured or is using a material with an EmissiveMask in it, you can change it’s properties via the EmissiveTint property located in:

Explorer > MaterialService > (MaterialName) > Appearance | If a material
or
Explorer > MeshName > SurfaceAppearance > Appearance | if a texture

This can create the glow effect ur looking for without having to resort to the default neon material. This would be ideal for meshes using SurfaceAppearance to apply it’s textures.

have you tried setting vertexcolor really high? iirc it makes glow.

Yes and it seems to do the job for now👍
