Managed Pricing: One System for Better Pricing and Earnings Growth

Hi Creators,

We’re launching Managed Pricing, a new system that unifies Regional Pricing and Price Optimization.

This creates the foundation for one system to help keep your prices competitive as your game, audience, and market conditions change. Pricing is a major revenue lever, but keeping it updated across products and regions takes a lot of manual work. Instead of managing separate tools, you can now set it up once and the system will keep working for your game.

New games and newly-created items are enrolled in Managed Pricing automatically, with item-level opt-out controls available at any time so you decide what’s included. Our goal is simple: make pricing easier to operate and more effective at driving revenue growth, while keeping you in control.

Why Managed Pricing Matters

Regional Pricing helps make your prices more relevant across markets. Games using regional pricing have seen a 4–10% average increase in overall Robux spend, a 1–6% increase in players and playtime, and a 43–52% increase in pass purchases in discounted regions1.

Price Optimization helps identify better prices using demand, conversion, and spend signals. Since launch, eligible creators have grown their earnings by 4% on average, with standout games like Slap Battles seeing over a 15% increase in earnings by offering more competitive prices to a wider audience.

Managed Pricing brings both tools and setup flows together into one system so pricing can keep improving without repeated manual work.

How To Use Managed Pricing

With Managed Pricing, you can let the system help keep pricing competitive across products and regions.

  1. Go to Creator Hub > Monetization > Managed Pricing.
  2. Complete the quick onboarding flow to get acquainted with the tool. If we detect instances of hard-coded prices, we’ll prompt you to fix them first.
  3. Review your eligible items and choose what to include or exclude. You can use bulk actions to enable or disable multiple items at once.

Managed Pricing dashboard: revenue lift, payer conversion, and suggested items to optimize — all in one view.

View payer conversion by country — spot the regions where regional pricing can grow your spender base.

Pricing tests run automatically at least every 90 days, or sooner when we notice that your prices may no longer be optimized. If the timing doesn’t work for your game, you can reschedule a test to better fit your roadmap.

What to Expect During a Pricing Test

Managed Pricing automatically determines when your game is eligible for a pricing test based on signals like sales volume and how many items you’ve opted into Managed Pricing. When a test runs, a small population of users sees different prices for a limited time while Roblox measures performance across groups.

Track every price test and its revenue impact — view results or reschedule upcoming tests, all from one view.

See insights and metrics for any price test, including revenue impact and the optimized price for each item tested.

Optimized prices are only applied when results show positive incremental total revenue. You’ll be notified at least 7 days before every test runs, and you can adjust, override, or opt out at any time.

Managed Pricing in Creator Hub

We’re adding a new Managed Pricing tab under Monetization in Creator Hub, where all of your existing Price Optimization functionality, plus Regional Pricing and the new controls, now live.

From the Managed Pricing tab, you can:

  • Review eligible items and choose what to include or exclude
  • Use bulk actions to enable or disable more items
  • Opt specific items out of automation
  • View past tests, upcoming tests, and what is scheduled next
  • Review test reports that help you see revenue changes, how different prices performed, and the metrics behind the outcome

For creators already using Regional Pricing, existing Regional Pricing items will continue in Managed Pricing as part of this unified system.

By providing more items, you give Managed Pricing more data to understand your economy, identify pricing opportunities across products and regions, and help keep more of your pricing optimized over time.

What’s Changing for Existing Items and New Games

  • If you’re already using Regional Pricing: your existing Regional Pricing items transition to Managed Pricing automatically and are included in pricing tests going forward. No action required. You stay in control with bulk or item-level opt-out at any time.
  • If your game is currently running a Price Optimization test: the active test will complete as scheduled. Once completed, your game transitions into Managed Pricing automatically. No action is required.
  • Subscriptions and Private Servers are not part of Managed Pricing, but are regionalized automatically, and don’t require opt-in.

What We’re Building Next

  • New item price recommendations
    • We’re working toward pricing recommendations that suggest a price when you create a new item, so you start from a strong foundation.
  • Continuous Regional Pricing optimization
    • We’re continuing to strengthen how Managed Pricing optimizes across regions—using economic signals from your game and the broader platform to help your items perform everywhere they’re sold.
  • More support across games
    • We’re expanding Managed Pricing’s full benefits to more games—including those with lower transaction volume—so more developers can get optimal price recommendations over time.

FAQs

Does opting in mean Roblox automatically enrolls all of my items?

  • No. The onboarding flow introduces Managed Pricing and lets you choose which eligible items to include. Items that were already on Regional Pricing carry over automatically. You can use bulk actions or item-level controls to include or exclude specific passes and developer products at any time.

What happens if my game has hard-coded prices?

  • Managed Pricing auto-detects hard-coded prices, and we’ll prompt you to fix them before continuing. This is because hard-coded prices do not update dynamically and can prevent the system from working correctly.

What happens during a pricing test, and will my regular players see strange prices?

  • During a test, users are split into groups and shown different price points around your set price for a short window (typically three weeks). Optimized prices are only adopted afterward if results show positive incremental total revenue. If results are flat or negative, your set price stays in place. Tests are designed to be statistically meaningful while limiting exposure to any single price point.

When my game is ready for a pricing test, what happens next?

  • You’ll be notified before each test runs and before any resulting price change goes live. You can run the test the same day or schedule it for a later time that better works with your upcoming releases and events. Tests automatically run at least every 90 days, but you can reschedule them as you see fit.

What if I disagree with a price change after a test run?

  • You can override any price at any time. Managed Pricing surfaces the results, the metrics behind the outcome, and the prior price so you can revert or adjust if a recommendation does not match what you are seeing in your game.

Where does the data come from? Is it specific to my game or platform-wide?

  • Pricing decisions for your items are based on signals from your own game, including conversion, demand, spend, and your game’s spender penetration in specific countries. Regional pricing adjustments also use a mix of your game’s regional player mix and broader signals like local purchasing power and exchange rates, so prices reflect both your specific game and the market a user is in.

Is the Price Optimization tab going away?

  • Yes. All existing functionality moves over, plus the new unified controls, reporting, and scheduling tools. You don’t need to re-enable items that were already on Regional Pricing, they carry over automatically.

Will my baseline price ever change without my approval?

  • No. Managed Pricing tests prices around your baseline price and only adopts a new one when the data shows a positive revenue impact. You can revert any change anytime.

What will I be able to see?

  • Managed Pricing includes notifications, pricing activity history, and reporting so you can understand what changed, how different prices performed, and the metrics behind the outcome.

How does Managed Pricing work with gifting and trading?

  • If your game supports gifting or trading, you can use GetUsersPriceLevelsAsync to compare user price levels and build transfer rules that fit your economy. For example, you might allow gifting when the sender’s price level is greater than or equal to the recipient’s, or allow trades only between users with the same price level. This helps you support fair transfers while keeping control over how your in-game economy works.

1. Note: Results are estimated based on analyzing the top 2500 games between 2025-01-06 and 2025-12-21 and excludes the first 14 weeks of data from newly created games to get a more accurate read on stabilized trends. Games will see a range of impact on earnings and engagement from regional pricing based upon how their users are distributed across the world.

Why can’t I add anything to the optimization list?
Clicking “Enable managed pricing” doesn’t do anything.

I do have 3 gamepasses

will these alerts here stop me from running tests?
I’ve already verified my trading and gifting (and it’s still claiming I haven’t). and the hard-coded prices aren’t user facing.

Hi, please select any, or all, 3 of the gamepasses first then you should be able to enable managed pricing. Please let us know if that still doesn’t work.

Is there a way to manually start a price test?

Nothing is showing up in the dropdown still. I’m a little confused.

This looks really interesting, actually!

Being able to just set Managed Pricing once and forget it would make game developing pipelines much more easier down the line.

This helps especially newer developers, or newer games, like my up-and-coming projects and would tinker the price a bit to get the perfect amount.

If 200 Robux is too much for a game pass, and 175 is enough, then having Managed pricing would automate the quality testing, and provide a better price.

Although, like a few other devs, I do have some concerns and queries.

Firstly, will players know a pricing test is ongoing? It seems a better idea to notify a player on the purchase page that a test is ongoing, and they can always opt to pay the normal price rather than engaging in the test, if they wish to do so.
That’ll reduce any confusion if a user plays a game and sees a pass for 100 robux, and then returns tomorrow and sees it at 150.

Secondly, like other devs, will there be plans for a way to enable a sort of price-matching/linking or something?
For example, as other players say, there may be one pass (Pass A), and another pass (Pass B) which are intended to be the same price (100 robux for either red [A] or blue [B] colours, for example.) Passes A and B should have the same price as they provide the exact same thing, just in a different variant. It wouldn’t make sense for Pass A to be 95 robux, and Pass B to be 105 robux.
These passes should be ‘linked’ in a way that managed pricing could like assume both as one entity or something.

There could also be tiered passes which should be relative to other passes. For example, passes C, D & E are 5, 10, and 20 robux respectively.
If pass C increases by 10%, passes D and E should increase by 10% too. Having prices ‘linked’ and assumed as one entity here too could help a bit with some use cases a few players may have.

Yeah, that’ll definitely be worth a shot trying it.

All of my gamepasses are regionally price adjusted and therefore are labeled in as “managed pricing”. Wont let me run pricing tests on them or do anything with them other than regional balancing. Which seems like intended behavior…but the UI is confusing

Thanks for flagging Marioman73! :folded_hands: This is a bug and the team is working on a fix ASAP.

Hey, I was running a price optimization test now the tab isn’t functioning, I can’t cancel it either and the new Managed Pricing tab isn’t showing up either.

Thanks for flagging! Should be fixed now, let us know if you have any other issues. Thanks!

Will this work for UGC clothing and accessories

Would be nice if you add a “discount” feature

So now you can charge users in some country less or more depending on your whim? Seems pretty discriminatory…

You’ll understand it better when you learn about economics.

Something costing $20 in the USA is very often way out of the reach of our socalled “3rd World” countries.. Africa .. Middle East .. South America.. etc.
In South Africa .. $20 is R326 (Rand) .. over half a tank of Petrol/Gas … and Parents will tell their children they’re nuts to think money grows on trees.

I don’t believe countries expect things just to be half price… but just a little cheaper goes a long way… and more “enticing” (as Roblox has learnt) for players outside of the “Rich Countries”.

So it has nothing to do with liberal thinking “discrimination”.. but just more economical sense.
Roblox wouldn’t do it.. if they… or Creators… lose money with Managed Pricing.

But as with MOST Roblox updates… people have the option to OPT OUT

A mere $150 is or is more than the national average monthly salary for many countries with weaker economies, I myself am from one and prices are absolutely absurd for us and I and many more wouldn’t be buying anything at all if not for features like regional pricing, which is why it actually results in an overall increase in revenue

When a game is eligible to run a price test, we will notify them up to 30 days in advance. They are able to reschedule the test to run as soon as the same day

Players aren’t notified that a test is running, and there’s no option for a player to opt out and pay the standard price.

On price-matching/linking: this isn’t supported today, each item is priced independently. If you want two items to stay aligned, we recommend opting one out and setting its price manually.
