Marketplace Policy docs use incorrect name for accessory type, leading to policy violation / general confusion

The Marketplace Policy docs are an important set of guidelines that UGC avatar item creators on Roblox must follow in order to upload and publish items for sale in the Marketplace.

Particularly within the Miscategorization section of Marketplace Policy, the docs incorrectly use the term “Head” to describe “Hat” accessories.

This is problematic, because there is already an existing UGC “Head” asset category that is for body parts. The Marketplace Policy should use the official “Hat” accessory name to clearly identify the asset type it is referring to.

Using “Head” to describe “Hat” accessories in the Marketplace Policy causes confusion not only to creators, but also to Roblox’s UGC moderation and appeals staff.

Creator @oatins recently had their item, a partial hairstyle (pigtails) removed from Marketplace, despite being uploaded in the correct “Hat” accessory category. Upon appeal, UGC Moderation cited that “Partial hairstyles must be in Head, Face, or Hair categories,” and they added that “..the hat category is different than the head category on Roblox.”

Accessories are explictly not allowed to be uploaded as “Head” body parts according to the same Marketplace Policy docs, so it is clear that “Head” is actually referring to “Hat” accessories within this section of the docs. These references to “Head” accessories should be changed to use the correct “Hat” accessory terminology. This update should also apply to any internally used documentation of Marketplace Policy (if such a thing exists) so that UGC Moderation does not incorrectly identify these assets as policy violations going forward.

This is great news, thanks for replying

Hey just following up here - just as @raskolibov mentioned, this has been changed - great suggestion.

That specific text of the policy predates the release of heads, so it wasn’t an issue at the time but can be interpreted very confusingly now. Thanks again for flagging.

Feel free to submit additional reports if you notice anything else. Have a great rest of your week!
