Material Services Beta, Studio vs Game

Reproduction Steps

This issue happens in my studio experience and played game. We have a shared workspace. Anyone from my team who plays the published game experiences the lack of materials. It might be related, but others who use the editor also do not see my updated materials in the experience.

The steps I took are the basic steps to using the material service. I have the material service beta enabled in all places, but there is a specific place that the textures are overridden currently to test.

Expected Behavior

After turning on the beta, uploading my textures, and setting up the material beta properly, I expect that the materials in-game would reflect the materials I’ve placed in editor. I would also expect that the changes would be reflected for my coworkers in editor.

Edit: I work for a game studio, and this service was suggested as tech to incorporate in our game that will be launching this Fall. I’m not sure whether or not to continue with this workflow, given that it is not a live feature.

Actual Behavior

This is how my custom textures look in-editor.

This is how the custom textures look in-game. The chosen material color is still transferred, but the specific textures aside from that are skipped. This is also how my coworkers see the textures in editor.

The feature is in studio beta, meaning not live… Material service is not enabled in the client. Developers with the beta disabled in Studio will not see its effects.

Hi thanks for the report. As stated above by @PeZsmistic , the feature is still in beta and only works in studio, not live.
