Maturity & Compliance Questionnaire rejections are unclear and inaccurate

As a Roblox developer, it is currently too hard to deal with content maturity label rejection. More than once I have dealt with content maturity labels being reset or an instance in the past where a game that followed the policy APIs for social links got moderated for supposedly not following the policy APIs.

Today a notice was received of a questionnaire being answered wrong. Upon reviewing feedback, I can say with certainty that the feedback received is complete nonsense and the original answers are correct. We are not given any notice of how these points of feedback are reached. Without any particular direction, there’s no way to know if this is even reviewed by a real human or not.

I am expected to answer the questionnaire again, yet the original answers were correct. It’s very hard to run any experience on this site when things are handled this way. I need clarity on how my questionnaire is wrong because I know the experience inside and out and from my point of view the original answers are correct. If I were to follow the questionnaire feedback, I would be giving false answers which is susceptible to account moderation. But if I give the same (correct) answers again, I worry about account moderation for not following the feedback.

If Roblox is able to address this issue, it would improve my development experience because the experience I work for would be allowed to exist without so many pointless issues stemming from false moderation. I don’t know how to appeal these decisions to get a human review of it. I don’t know what the right move is. This whole process is far too unclear and feedback needs to be specific. For example, if an experience does not contain violence but the feedback claims it does, then the feedback should also include notes of where the violence is and how it’s considered violent.

Hello there, thank you for the request! We can definitely take a look at the questionnaire rejections. For the policy APIs regarding social links, that is completely separate from the questionnaire moderation flow, and if you have a feature request there, please make a separate one!

Regarding your questionnaire rejection

  1. Can you share some more information about your exp (link would be great) and what reason was provided and why it was incorrect? Feel free to DM me.
  2. Have you submitted any appeals via the Violations & Appeals Portal? We have an appeals review queue dedicated for questionnaire appeals, so I would love to look into whether the appeals have gone through or not.

I will send a DM about the specific feedback I received.

As for appeals, I have not sent one. In the email, private message and feedback page there’s no clear indicator of where to go to appeal the decision directly, or I missed it.

Thank you for the DM!

For appeals, I think in our message we have a line: “If you disagree with our assessment, you may submit an appeal via the Violations & Appeals portal.”

Was that line missing in the messaging you received? If so, that should be a bug, and we’ll look into fixing that. It’s also mentioned in the Creator Docs, but we’ll look into adding a link in the feedback page.

This message doesn’t appear anywhere in the email, Roblox message nor the feedback page.

Do you mind sharing some screenshots? One of the email you received and one of the Roblox Message you received would be great. Feel free to DM as well.

I agree something needs to change with content maturity label rejection. we just had our content label rejected again today for crude humor and gambling which is just not true at all, and they gave no feedback. I’m not sure how it works but surely one mod can’t just shutdown a whole game, because of some small minor issue or a non-existent issue at all. And I have no idea what to change if I need to make changes at all because I didn’t get any feedback, and making my game 13+ will kill it.

I mean what Im I suppose to do with this

I also didn’t receive a message like that. but I sent an appeal through Support, Appeal a Decision → I was moderated for content on an assets I created. Is that the right place to send the appeal?

Edit: Our appeal got accepted thankfully :folded_hands:

I had the same problem. I got Media Sharing (Policy API Followed) message but i hadn’t any feature in the game that may fit the Media Sharing option.

Currently the game is moderated for different reason that is not related to Roblox.

It would be better if moderation will provide the exact piece of content they wish is violating the rules or doesn’t match the questionnaire

I’ve had the content maturity rejected in my game CatWeb multiple times for content that is just not in the game… When I tried appealing the moderation following the steps in the Roblox Documentation at the time, I was simply told that the moderation was done more than 30 days ago when it was literally done yesterday (?)

So I just resubmitted the questionnaire the exact same as none of that content is in the game or it was created by users, which the documentation explicitly states should not be taken into account. This was the moderator feedback:

Only when I was trying to appeal a false decal moderation did I realize that it actually is in Violations & Appeals. Nothing in the message stated that and I suppose it’s too late to appeal it now

The content maturity rejection from August also isn’t here

A few months ago I also had my maturity label randomly rejected for one of my games. It had a valid reason (a model that could be interpreted as alcohol containers) which was quickly dealt with but it also had a very weird second issue that stated my game did not have any paid random items like I had described, which is not true.

The game contains loot boxes that contain random skins and chromas for your playables and these crates can be bought with a currency that can be purchased with Robux. The game uses and follows the Policy API, but the rejection stated that the feature simply didn’t exist at all which made me believe it was just wasn’t noticed?

Again this happened awhile ago and I submitted a new questionnaire that followed what I believed to be true, that I had removed the offending item and that there was still random paid items present. There hasn’t been an issue since.

I second this, just got rejected. Now at least they allow you to redo it. But come one, they keep trying to act like my game is a social hangout when it’s a roleplay game. It’s literally based in a school, and has roleplay in the description. I don’t know what else they want. And they repetitively send rejections over several months while threatening if you do the same wrong one they’ll “take action” on your account. Like tell me what I need to change!! But I personally feel like it’s a bot or possibly a human glancing at it and clicking a button for the developer to redo it… This has to be fixed.
