May the 30-char bot be more accurate?

Whoah this is the first meta post i’ve made in ages

Index:
30CL - 30Charaxter

Ok, so recently someone replied to a post I made 2 months ago discussing the 30CL limit, aside from the fact I had received a reply to a 2 month old post what annoyed me is when trying to discuss the context of the topic I had to make 7+ edits to my reply AND include an index at the beginning to try and talk about the limit.

Now as someone who was originally flagging the majority of character limit bypassing posts, I generally welcomed the limit, however I feel it is slightly too oppressive, in the fact where its blanket banning the phrase even in situations where its being used for a different, legitimate purpose.

What I propose, is the bot only sensors messages if the 30CL is actually having an impact on bypassing the pre set character limit, From a programmers perspective this would be subbing restricted strings out the message and seeing if it still meets the limit requirements.

In conclusion, while the change to a bot is welcome I feel precision is key, especially in the context of the fact that the bot seemed to cause a lot more forum meta debates about the limit (mainly from new members)

Just like with ROBLOX.CRITICAL filter, Discourse’s filter is all or nothing. Either you block everything with a specific term everywhere, or nothing nowhere.
