I regularly have two instances of Studio open, for example a main game and a testing server. In the last few days though this has become very difficult to deal with. When using Codex, the list studios often reports only one open place or none at all.
Getting list_roblox_studios to return both places is very difficult and requires some hokey pokey involving closing and reopening studio, doing the same with codex, and sometimes restarting my PC. The success rate of doing this has dramatically fallen which makes working with the MCP a very frustrating experience lately.
I suppose it’s possible that this is an issue with Codex as it started to happening in the last few days since the new model launched and the app updated to also include ChatGPT Work, but considering the MCP logs are exposing only one or no Studio instances I am assuming it is a Roblox side issue.
I’m getting this all the time. Both Codex and Claude sometimes just start hallucinating thinking studio MCP is no longer available despite the fact it is still showing the clients connected in roblox studio. I usually just restarted Codex/Claude to fix this but even now this isn’t working sometimes so I end up having to restart my pc
If this helps, when studio updates it toggles the assistant enabled setting off (from what I observe).
I have to re-enable it and restart Codex. Then it uses the Roblox_Studio MCP. I also specify to use the MCP in every prompt.
I’m also experiencing this with Claude Code on Windows.
This sums up the solution, I haven’t gotten a method to what works. In my experience, agents are able to see that the mcp is running but list_roblox_studios returns an empty list.
Nothing more frustrating than to hear an agent say “please open your roblox studio file so I can make the changes” when its already open!
