Me and my friend's account are appearing online and playing a game even though we are completely offline

Hello there,

When I open the Roblox website, me and my friend’s noticed that accounts which are actually offline in real life are joining random and popular games like grow a garden and dress to impress, when you join the -supposedly- offline accounts, you actually see them in game but they leave the game once you approach them.

The issue is that my friends got actually hacked through cookies and had his account change both the appearance and the display name but we resolved that quickly by changing the email to another one, and changing all of the passwords, names and everything.

But upon further inspection we noticed that our accounts are staying afk inside a random popular game while we are actually offline.

I’m not sure whether this issue is on our part, like the hacker decided to hack our entire group or smth, but Im here just in case this was a Roblox bug.
I’ve heard Roblox had reports about being down for the most part (June 12) but I’m unsure whether it has any relation.

Please lemme know what is actually happening and if it’s something on my part instead of Roblox’s

There are no profile links or anything else, but from what I understand, I’ll write it out anyway. And unless you’re just being paranoid, this is clearly a different kind of situation. Unless you’re actually in-game, there’s no way you could appear as “in-game”. :skull_and_crossbones::pray:

This doesn’t seem like a bug, but rather like your account being hacked. You already mentioned that a friend said it was hacked through website cookies, and changing the email on the account and the other things you listed don’t really help much if the cookie isn’t cleared.

Click on “Inspect Element,” go to “Application” at the top, then under the “Storage” section there will be “Cookies.” Click the dropdown, right-click on the cookie under it and click “Clear.” This will delete it, and when you log into your account again, a new cookie will be generated, which should fix the issue.

According to Clause 2(d) of the User Terms in Roblox’s Terms of Use – User Accounts; Access to Services:

If you have reason to believe your Account has been compromised, is not secure, or has been subject to unauthorized use, you must notify Roblox immediately by contacting Roblox Support. If another User asks for your password or any personal information, you should report them immediately using the “Report Abuse” feature.

So, in short, you’re obligated to report the situation to Roblox, and by using the service, you’ve already agreed to that clause.

Go ahead and do that as well — and your report will probably be closed, since it doesn’t appear to be a bug and, based on your claims, seems to fall under a different issue.

You are incorrect with accounts being hacked. They are not being hacked this is a bug that a lot of people are reporting at the moment. Take a look at the DownDetector posts for Roblox.
I am also experiencing this bug at the moment.

This is also incorrect as servers need to sync and the amount of requests that Roblox get of people joining/leaving games etc. is a lot.

Hopefully Roblox will fix this soon as people are being scared of their account being hacked when it’s just a glitch that a lot of people are having. Some people say Grow A Garden has caused this but I’m not sure.

EDIT: Your account ‘could’ be hacked but at the moment this is happening a lot.

If you read what they wrote, it sounded more like a message aimed at getting hacked. Even if such a bug exists, the way they explained it doesn’t seem like it.

Also, this report has been closed. You can proceed with the other one — no need to bump this — and the original poster seemed to be experiencing different issues anyway, which caused confusion for everyone.

Additionally, the person who submitted this report marked my reply as the solution, so even if that bug does exist, their account might still have been hacked — and the case is considered resolved.

TL;DR: You’re on to nothing. The report’s closed, my reply was marked as the solution, and the whole thing seemed more like account compromise than a real bug. No need to bump it.

The reason I responded is so that others experiencing this don’t instantly think they are hacked and get panicked. This is happening at the moment and not much of what they say other than their friend being hacked before shows that they have been hacked.

I hope you understand why I responded - to hopefully stop the many users experiencing this from believing they are hacked when it is just a bug.
