Mentions for Community Forum

I am requesting the addition of an @mention system for Roblox Community Posts. This would allow users to tag specific people and notify them directly.

Problem

There is currently no way to notify a specific user in a community post. This creates multiple communication issues:

  • Important announcements can easily be missed.
  • Group owners and creators cannot direct information to specific members.
  • Collaboration becomes more difficult without a way to call attention to the right people.
  • Users often resort to discord messages, which may not be ideal for group-related communication.

Proposed Solution

Add an @mention system that works similarly to mentions in replies or private messages.

Example:
Typing @Username in a community post would:

  • Convert to a clickable link to that user’s profile
  • Send a notification such as *“You were mentioned in a community post.”

Optional enhancements:

  • Allow admins to mention group roles (e.g., @Admins).
  • Autocomplete suggestions while typing a username.

Benefits

  • Stronger communication tools for creators and groups
  • Increased visibility for important group or community updates
  • Smoother collaboration between developers, staff, and members
  • A more intuitive, modern social feature
  • Fewer missed messages and less confusion

Conclusion

@Mentions would greatly improve communication across Roblox communities. This feature is widely used across modern platforms and would be a valuable upgrade to Roblox’s social tools.

Not mentioned in the post but you shouldn’t be notified about pings if you aren’t apart of a group, and there should also be toggles to enable/disable notifications per-group.

For example, you don’t want to have a million and one notifications from 6 year olds begging you for admin powers or 5 million robux on your group forums, and you (or maybe just I) also don’t want notifications, which may possibly be malicious, to flood my inbox when the posts I’m being mentioned in are in groups I am not apart of, and do not care about.

To that extent, it would also be nice to have a “Can mention other users” permission that would default to enabled which we could use if we, for example, wanted to only permit certain more trusted groups of users with this ability.

@guildedjared Would you be aware if your team have considered this feature previously, or upcoming?

Thanks for the feedback! We’re working on a couple improvements to forums that we’ll be able to share more about soon.

Hello? Can I ask any of you about my feature request?

This is a great point about managing notifications and mentions, but it also raises a major privacy question regarding user tracking.

Since mentions make it easy to find and follow a user’s activity across different community pages, what do you think about Roblox adding a centralized “My Post History” button to our account settings?

If a tool like that existed—showing players a chronological view of all their past community forum posts with an option to permanently delete them for privacy reasons—do you think it would effectively stop third parties and bad actors from tracking and profiling a player’s forum footprint over time? I feel like giving users total control over their past data history is an urgent feature we need alongside these new notification updates.

Hello M_etrics, can I ask you about a feature request on this thread?

Sure, what’s up w/ your feature request?

Have you read my idea about adding a feature request button from yesterday? Because recently from 2025, it’s hard for me track all of my past post’s data from a specific community page I posted into in the main Roblox platform.

So I’ve just suggested a feature where players/account owners can search all of their past forum comments even from years ago that only they can see and track in their profile, called the “My Post History” button where we can delete our own posts to hide our digital footprints. But if other players are to track inside the others or, our profile, they will not see the original owner’s “My Post History” button even while accessing the username.

So, what do you think my idea about this?
