Minimize the DataStore character count

I’m creating a Rollback system for DataStore, i don’t need to explain how it works, i just want to say that it will have a table in a DataStore key which would contain the player login days, such as:

He joined in the first day of the game, so the table will store the number one, if he joins the next day, then the table will store the number one and two, and so on. However, i want to keep the character count the most optimized and/or minimized possible, this is an exageration of what would a very active player with maybe a login streak of 10 years, as i said, it’s an exageration:

It has over 19k+ characters, and stored 4000+ times the number 100, yes, it’s impossible that someone could keep this login streak, however, i still want to keep an optimized character count, who knows if someone could achieve this.
My idea is that i could delete the oldest (lowest) number stored, which would be in a certain moment, but i would like to know more opinions with maybe a better way to minimize/optimize the charcter count, thanks for reading :slight_smile:.

Just set a login streak variable and the previous day variable, for example:

when a player joins, check if it’s been a two or not, if not, increase the login streak, else, you set the login streak to 0. Then, you would set the previous join day to that current day. No need to save more than 2 numbers.

Something that you can do is converted it into a JSON string using HttpService. I concluded that the string gets smaller when it gets converted into JSON. game:GetService("HttpService"):JSONEncode(Table of Data) You must save the string that this function returned.
When the player loads back just converted back to its original using:
game:GetService("HttpService"):JSONDecode("JSON STRING HERE") Idk if I explained myself here, but yeah it gets shorter. Try it and tell me. Idk if this is a good alternative tho.

Sorry, i didn’t explain correctly, it was a bad example, what i mean with login streak, is that the table will register every login, to record key numbers and load it if a rollback is necessary, that’s why i need to store every number. Thanks for replying.

@focasds - Thanks for your taking your time to reply, however, i read that when saving data, it will get JSONEncoded/JSONDecoded, i don’t know if it’s necessary to encode it again, when saving, but i still, appreciate your reply.

I don’t believe there is any non-intensive way to store this amount of data. If you were intent on using a rollback method, I would recommend simply saving a single backup of player data that is updated periodically, or just decreasing the range of time over which the DataStore keeps backup data. Regardless, I can’t imagine a situation in which you would need to rollback data 10 years.

If more than one of the saves are exactly the same, you can optimize to combine them into one save. Where they’re placed in the history depends on you if they’re not all near each other in your huge data array.

I don’t recommend saving data up until such a long time. The user would complain and ask for a fix on their data way before they would want their data rolled back a century.
