I’m posting this because I’ve been being banned for the past month or so. I’m starting to believe that I am being targeted by moderation for no good reason, given the fact the many users chat the same MILD messages, I do and don’t get punished afterwards?
I was also working in Roblox Studio at the time of the ban, which thankfully I saved the game before knowing I’ve been banned because the auto-saving mechanic is not reliable at all. But it may be possible that approximately an hour worth of work was lost because of Roblox’s Moderation system.
I was banned for three days, the chat messages coming from the game “Epic Minigames”. Now I can see why some may be flagged, but they aren’t harsh at all when given context.
So I appealed the message, like I always do, but it was shortly denied afterwards.
This has been a common patten when being banned. I appeal a ban that shouldn’t have happened in the first place, and then one of the dipshits on the moderation team who may or may not be the same person doing this- doubles down on the falsely flagged message and overlooking it.
The only time the appeal system worked was ONCE. And that was in the first two weeks of it being introduced.
So thank you, once again Roblox Mods, that I am now banned for another three days for absolutely no reason.
Also to mention,
I wasn’t being banned before the whole appeal system was introduced to players. In fact, I’d managed to go almost 2 years without being banned by moderation.
But after this, I started getting banned off the platform for reasons that shouldn’t even be classified as “Harassment”.
Yeah, and the guy who got me banned who also told me to “shut up” is playing another game as I’m speaking. Keep in mind, the guy whom I reported for consecutively harassing me WASN’T banned, and I was the one who the Roblox moderator turned on instead of the real violator.
Saying “shut up” is offensive and will likely get someone banned for saying it. Also looking at the chat it doesn’t look completely nice and friendly it does look a bit like bullying.
This is my opinion if I was a moderator I would probably give a warning, but again we are talking about Roblox, we are definitely not talking about the best moderation system.
Assuming someone actually read your appeal and it wasn’t a bot it probably got denied because you never took accountability for doing something wrong lol you kind of just justified why you told someone to shut up
so normally you wouldnt get banned for these things, but in the case somebody starts reporting you is when the problem comes in. So depending on what kinda community you’re playing with this can happen a lot. Also:
Roblox moderation does not care for context, if you said something, doesnt matter if you’re arguing with someone, if it breaks the rules, it breaks the rules.
Thats like robbing a bank with someone and then they get away but you dont.
So instead of trying to find a logical reason and solution as to why Roblox bans their users WITHOUT context, you go into my post, tell me that it’s my fault that I retaliated after being actually harassed by someone and that a stingy multi-billionaire company can’t find proper people to fix problems that THEY asked for, and tell me to feel better that I didn’t get the death penalty for a problem that shouldn’t have occurred in the first place.
Someone was playing Rivals with their friend. He told her ‘I’m gonna kill you’. Of course he meant he’s gonna kill her in the game, not in real-life. And he got banned for 7 days just because he said that. And they denied his appeal.
Again, they don’t care about context, keep that in mind.
I am not saying that I am in the right for breaking the rules, the point I’m trying to get across is why was the other person not banned as well and why is the word “Shut up” triggered when I’ve said it multiple times on my alternate accounts and never got banned?
Oh what is this mess in the replies! Alright reading through the topic and through the replies. I see both sides of the story.
First of all, that ban was completely fair and it doesn’t matter the context. It’s like saying “I only harassed him because he bullied me” which still breaks the rules. Even if someone else breaks the rules, you also can’t just start breaking the rules if someone else did
For some context, “most of the messages” are just the last chatlogs messages that roblox shows. Look i understand your concern in some way but saying “I’d like to say that none of these chat messages are considered Harassment” isn’t true because “shut up kid” is still harassment even if the other person was breaking the rules. Even if it’s hard and you get annoyed, just block the person or switch servers otherwise situations like this happen

Look, this is not to call you out. You can disagree with it if you want but “Shut up” in any context can be considered harassment and not only on roblox.
The thing is in these posts everyone says “I am banned for no reason”. Roblox moderation has been completely ruined to the point that everyone instantly assumes that their punishment is invalid even if its often not the case.

I was a bit headed at the time of creating this since I’d already been banned a week ago for the exact same reason.
Seeing this now, I could tell why I was flagged and what my choices led up to and failure to consider a different option. Guess next time I’ll try a different approach to situations like these.
