Moderation Issue Leading to False Account Termination and Ignored Appeals

First off, if this isn’t the right category, I’m sorry. I’m not really experienced with the Developer Forum and this whole thing spans multiple areas at once. I’m talking about a potential Roblox exploit, a failing automated moderation system, and Roblox’s support system being completely irresponsible. But I gotta write this because honestly, I’m out of options at this point.

My account, iZeroReis, got permanently terminated a few weeks ago. The official reason was that I allegedly violated the “Child Endangerment” policy by uploading inappropriate content. But here’s the thing - I never uploaded anything. Not a single image, not a video, nothing. I know for a fact this is completely wrong because I literally didn’t do it.

And look, I need to be clear about something here. I’m a developer. I work for the community - I’ve been doing development work for a 100k member group, and this account is incredibly important to me. It’s not just some throwaway account I use to mess around. This is my professional account. My reputation is tied to it. My work is tied to it. So why in the world would I do something like this? Why would I upload child endangerment content? That makes zero sense. I wouldn’t. I wouldn’t ever. Not only would it destroy my account, it would destroy my career in the community. It would destroy the group I work for. It would destroy everything. So the idea that I did this is just absurd.

And honestly, let me be absolutely clear - I strongly condemn and have zero tolerance for such content. Child exploitation is one of the most serious violations of Roblox’s policies, and rightfully so. The fact that I’m being accused of it, that I’m being lumped in with people who actually commit these acts, is deeply troubling. Those accounts should face the strictest consequences. But I’m not one of them. I would never be one of them. And the system can’t even tell the difference.

The only weird thing that happened before the termination was right after I joined a specific game. I got hit with this permission prompt from Capture Service. But it wasn’t acting like a normal Roblox UI at all. I hit ESC and it just stayed there, floating above the menu. There was no actual gameplay happening, no normal interaction, nothing. I just sat there waiting. About 8 minutes later, boom - account terminated. No warning, no notification, nothing. Just gone.

(It appeared to be a normal game loading. In reality, after getting one permission prompt, the place was silently uploading inappropriate content to your account in the background. You couldn’t see any of this happening. Then, 8-10 minutes later, your account was gone.)

Think about that for a second. I didn’t upload anything. I didn’t interact with any upload system. I didn’t chat or do anything suspicious. Yet the system is telling me I uploaded inappropriate content. And get this - the moderation message is inconsistent. Sometimes it says image, sometimes it says video. Like, they don’t even know what I supposedly did. This screams that something got triggered without my knowledge or consent. The system punished me for doing absolutely nothing.

After this happened, I started digging and found out other people got hit the same way. There’s an account called practra_1 that got terminated after interacting with the same or similar game. Same reason. But it’s not just two accounts. In the BTF AF community the exact same thing went down. Suddenly everyone’s screen got flooded with this permission prompt. It wasn’t normal. Some players just clicked Allow without thinking. And they probably lost their accounts too. So basically, someone found this exploit and weaponized it to get a bunch of people banned. The system didn’t catch it. Or maybe it did, but way too late. There’s community discussion about this stuff happening repeatedly. This isn’t normal moderation. This is an actual exploit. Or system abuse. Or both.

(The redacted portion contains reference to child safety violations)

Here’s what I’ve pieced together about how it works, though I’ll be honest - I don’t know the full picture. They’re using Capture Service to request permissions. If they get permission, they’re somehow using an exploit to write fake child endangerment content to the screen and register it with Roblox through Capture Service. The system logs it. And within 8-10 minutes, the account gets terminated. It’s like the system thinks the player uploaded something illegal and auto-nukes the account. But nothing was actually uploaded. Someone just exploited the system to create a fake record. The system believed it and killed the account.

According to what I’ve heard, this exploit got patched. Cool, I guess. But honestly, I’m not even sure. Did they actually fix it? Or is it still open? I don’t know. It could be patched. It could still be active. It might still be getting used to ban people right now. I have no idea. But here’s the real problem - even if it’s patched, the accounts are still banned. Still banned for no reason. Especially mine. My appeal got straight up rejected and I was told it won’t be reopened. So Roblox found the exploit, tried to patch it, but completely abandoned the victims. They didn’t restore accounts. They didn’t reopen appeals. They just tried to patch the hole and called it a day. That’s it.

Now let’s talk about support. This is honestly the most infuriating part. I contacted Roblox Support multiple times. My first appeal? 3 days with no response. Nothing. Then I tried the “User Safety” category and got told it was the wrong category. Okay, so I went back to Appeals. Still nothing. Then I tried Bug Report. No response. Then I tried Report Abuse. Finally got a response, but it was just some generic “please report the game on the website” template message. Basically nothing.

Around 20 days later, I finally started getting responses. But every single one was identical. Template message. No reference to my evidence. No explanation. No investigation. Nothing. I provided a ton of evidence - screenshots, videos, other affected users, game links. Everything. But none of it looks like it was actually reviewed.

What’s concerning is that the appeal responses I received are almost word-for-word identical to each other, and from what I’ve seen in community discussions, they match responses other users have gotten in similar situations. The consistency is… unusual. It raises questions about whether these responses are being individually reviewed or if they’re being processed through some kind of automated system. Either way, it’s clear that the level of detail and evidence I provided wasn’t addressed in any meaningful way.

(Repeated template responses, no case-specific review)

Here’s where things stand now. My appeal got rejected. I was told the decision is final. I was told I can’t appeal again. And my account gets permanently deleted in like 7 or 8 days. This is incredibly stressful, especially knowing that none of this is actually my fault.

I’m not writing this just to complain about a ban. I’m writing this because this is a systemic problem. This could be a real exploit. Multiple users are affected. Potentially dozens, maybe hundreds. The current appeal system doesn’t handle cases like this. Evidence isn’t being reviewed. It’s just getting auto-rejected. If this really is an exploit, then this isn’t just about my account. This is a platform-level issue. The entire Roblox platform could be at risk. Someone found this exploit and weaponized it. They might still be using it. Roblox tried (optional) to patch it but left the victims hanging. That’s what happened.

I’ve tried contacting Roblox multiple times. Over and over. But every single time I get the same template responses. Nothing changes. No meaningful response. No investigation. Just templates. Templates. Templates. Honestly, I’m exhausted. I’ve got 7-8 days before my account’s gone for good and there’s nothing I can do. I’ve done everything I could through normal channels. None of it worked.

I’ve got 37 screenshots. Videos. Evidence. All of it. Someone who can actually investigate this needs to see it. I’m writing this because other accounts are dealing with the same thing. I’m writing this because this is a platform problem. I’m writing this because Roblox’s support system clearly doesn’t work. I’m writing this because the automated moderation system can destroy people’s accounts and we can’t do anything about it. I’m writing this because Roblox tried to patch (am not sure) the exploit but forgot about the victims. They didn’t restore accounts. They didn’t reopen appeals. They just tried to patch it and moved on.

I’m hoping that someone on the moderation team or in the developer relations department will actually read this and investigate. This isn’t just about getting my account back - though that’s obviously important to me. This is about fixing a broken system that’s hurting innocent players.

If anyone reading this has contacts within Roblox - whether in moderation, developer relations, or trust and safety - I’d genuinely appreciate any help in getting this in front of the right people. If you’ve experienced something similar or know someone who has, please reach out. If you have any information about this exploit or know someone who might, I’d like to hear from you.

I’m not asking for special treatment. I’m asking for a real investigation. I’m asking for the system to work the way it’s supposed to. And I’m asking for help from this community to make that happen.

Thank you for reading this far.

I should also mention that before receiving any responses to my appeals, I was still able to access the DevForum through my izeroreis account. During that time, I attempted to raise awareness of the issue by reaching out, and I was correctly directed back to Roblox Support as the appropriate channel.

However, by the time I finally received responses to my appeals, my DevForum access had also been revoked due to the account termination.

What concerns me is that throughout this process, I had already indicated that the appeals system did not appear to be thoroughly reviewing the evidence being provided.

UPDATE:
From what I understand, this exploit may still be operational. Roblox needs to prioritize fixing this issue immediately before more accounts are affected @Roblox_Staff

bump because please roblox can we get an actual human being for our appeal instead of bot deciding our account’s fate

I have submitted a few more appeals, but they were also dismissed with automated responses. This situation has become extremely frustrating. Could someone please finally take a proper look at this issue?

this situation is actually a really serious issue like the automated moderation system clearly has major flaws if accounts are getting terminated for things they didnt actually do and then support just sends generic template responses without actually reviewing the evidence provided its honestly concerning for the whole community as long as roblox keeps relying on these automated systems without proper manual review nothing will change @Focia19 would you be able to look into this and maybe improve the appeal process because right now it seems like legitimate cases arent getting proper attention

Yes. This is really frustrating like my account is getting deleted for something, i didnt even do and they need to address this asap its completely unfair and im not even the only one dealing with this so many other users are going through the same thing and getting ignored by support too like people are literally losing their accounts because of this broken system and theyre just wandering around the forums trying to find help, its honestly bad

its been 24 days since I received my ban and i’ve yet to receive a response i think i have about 1 week left and then the window is gone.
I honestly wish if Roblox support hadn’t been this poor for all of us, especially since during these 24 days i’ve been constantly stressed trying any way to get in contact with roblox staff. However, I’ve seen no signs like i don’t know what else to do man.

Yeah, same here. I have about a week left before my appeal window closes. Users deserve to have a meaningful appeal window. Everybody is constantly encouraged to use Roblox Support for appeals, but you get the same responses over and over. I’ve had that for all of October for my initial termination until my penalty was removed. I would even give them the ticket numbers to prove that for my March termination, but it seems like that is of no use. My account is the only one that was affected; nothing attached to my email* was. This really is a stressful situation.

I completely understand your frustration, and I have to say I agree with you on this. You’re absolutely right that the appeal system should be working properly, but unfortunately it seems to be designed more to reject cases than to actually help. It’s really disheartening when you provide detailed evidence and all you get back are generic template responses with no real investigation.

What’s particularly concerning is that this isn’t just happening to one or two people - multiple users are experiencing the same automated rejections and template responses. The system seems to prioritize closing cases over actually reviewing them, even when substantial evidence is provided. It’s incredibly frustrating to watch legitimate appeals get dismissed without any meaningful investigation.

Im in a similar situation myself. My appeal time most likely has gone, but I’m still here hoping that maybe they’ll reconsider anyway or actually look into this properly. I know the chances are extremely slim at this point, but I can’t help but hold onto some hope that they might actually investigate.

The fact that so many of us are dealing with this tells me there’s a real systemic problem that needs to be addressed. I really hope Roblox takes this seriously and improves their appeal process, because right now it’s clear that legitimate cases aren’t getting the attention they deserve.

This sums up why you got falsely terminated, I’ve seen this a few times before on Roblox. This is just the latest version of it I’m assuming.

I am interested to know if you were sent a game link to play? or was it from a random game you found?

I received a link, but other users weren’t as lucky since they weren’t given a link instead, the game they were playing was directly targeted by the exploit. This does seem similar to what happened with Crosswood, and I’m aware of that, but the key difference is that this attack is exploiting CaptureService instead

Additionally, you can’t see this happening at all with your own eyes, and your account gets terminated within minutes. In the screenshots I provided, you can see text being displayed on the screen, but for most people this process happens in the background without any visible indication

Yeah I’ve seen them send links to the game acting all innocent.

I don’t think it personally matters as much about the key difference as all these exploit games follow a simple procedure. If I’m not mistaken other exploits have done this capture thing in the past.

If you can get your account back that’s great, but Id suggest in future to not trust random game links, or if anything seems randomly fishy for example how this game in your evidence asked for something like capture service for absolutely no reason.

Yeah, unfortunately thats exactly what happened. Even though am an experienced developer and normally very careful with suspicious links, the person who sent it to me was someone i considered a friend at the time, so i trusted them and ended up making that mistake.

Thank you for the advice though, i definitely wont be making that mistake again. I just really hope Roblox staff recognizes how serious this issue is, fixes the exploit itself, and properly helps the people who were affected by it instead of leaving their accounts terminated because of a flaw in the system.

Bump, and hope you would receive some good news soon.

This CaptureService exploit is honestly scary. I’m going through something similar right now where I’ve provided a lot of technical proof, but support just keeps ignoring it with the same bot replies over and over. It’s frustrating how the system can be weaponized against creators so easily while we get stuck in an automated loop. We really need actual people to manually review these cases

Bump, it seems that no authority has addressed this issue yet. Please look into this person’s problem, and unban everyone who was unfairly banned. There needs to be some progress and proper regulation now. With all these issues already going on, they also made the studio publish permission paid, this is just unbelievable.
