Movement Testing

I’d like to get second opinions on this movement system so far. I’ve only had one person test it and it took them a while to get the hang of it so I’m a little worried if it’s too unintuitive or just has a steep learning curve. If it’s the former, any recommendations to make it better would be great. Here’s the place: Untitled1251234123123123 - Roblox
But I’d recommend reading the description to know the controls and such before going in and to play in first person.

It’s difficult for me to land on the target from a wall slide.

Is this intended?

nah but ive got no reason to remove it. what target are you talking about tho?

some of the walls like that one and the one just before that second rope rely a bit on how you exit the wallrun. if youre holding A as you jump off the wall youll go further left, same thing if youre holding D but youll go further right. it should get you close enough but in that clip you used your double jump immediately after leaving the wallrun which probably didnt get you as much distance as you would by waiting a second after jumping off the wall. it helps to keep your view aligned straight so you dont lose any velocity to sideways movement

How can I go there then?

just a timing thing. youll need to jump before the wall ends if youre trying to get that rope since your momentum is just gonna force you past it everytime if you wait too long to make the gap. you just gotta make sure youre high up enough the wall or youll always fall short

I got to the rope but I don’t know how to get that far wall.

youre expending your double jump too early. ropes also only give you the initial burst of speed the first swing and a lot of gaps are based on exiting after that first swing so staying on any longer will just kill your momentum. the controls are pretty deliberate so spamming will just mess with yo rhythm which might be why youre losing the double jump too early. but you also dont get the double jump back when on the rope so if you use it to get to the rope then you wont have it to boost you higher which means youd be relying on the speed you had prior to grabbing the rope which might not be enough. basically just be more precise when pressing space

What’s this glitch? It’s not fixed even I reset my character.

I actually beat it!

In my opinion, I think rope’s detecting distance is short. It would be good if its hitbox is more bigger. And everything is good. It only requires practices.

ive never had that happen lol. do you remember what you did before it happened?

yeah it might be a bit hard as is. ill mess with it a lil bit. good stuff on that route tho. is there anything youd want added now that youve got a good hang of it

I just jumped onto a wall and suddenly got stuck there. I think I got close to the wall and my character started to ledge grab, and it stuck.

And I think ledge grab system is weird.

I think it would be good to add more rope parkour, where you just keep going with ropes without walls.

I played around with it a bit, it feels solid and very responsive. I think the biggest thing that tripped me up initially was how little vertical momentum I had leaving a wallrun. I often fell down because I didn’t think to double jump.

do you think i should change it or is it more just a pitfall when youre still learning? by this point ive played with it too much to understand what forces are intuitive or not and if some are just part of the learning curve

That is awesome. I really like the camera effect along with it.
