Music for our game

this is music for a game we’re working on. I’m looking for some feedback so I can improve on my future soundtracks.

I’m still pretty new to the music production scene, so let me know your thoughts on this so I can improve

it’s okay, it’s simple, it doesn’t need much more

what type of game is it for anyway?

Thanks, its a sandbox/tycoon type of game

i feel like you could do a bit more with the music then, this sounds like a REALLY calm piece with the lack of drums and im sure you’d be doing a bit more with the tycoon no? are you allowed to give details on what you do in this sandbox/tycoon?

hmmm, the only information I can give about the game is that its meant to be in a cartoonish style and about ice creams

and yes, definitely needs drums now that I’ve thought about it

if it’s about ice creams, i believe the music needs to be way more upbeat then
this music is like sims 1 build mode music, not the kind of music you’d hear selling ice cream

it needs a happy go lucky catchy hook tune that repeats itself a few times before it enters the “next part” of the song, and i recommend using a xylophone in the mix to give it that “innocent” vibe

if you have a set amount of customers that go to the stand, make that catchy tune repeat based on the max amount of customers (say 6 is the max, then build the song with the catchy tune repeating 6 times, part of music theory to give it a bit of a meaning)

alright thanks man, this helps alot

That sounds amazing! Is that a real person playing a real piano?

I do have to agree with @builderwaci though, it should be a little more upbeat for a tycoon. When I was listening to it I was actually thinking of a calm area in Super Paper Roblox.

nope, it’s midi

Sounds pretty good, have you played by yourself or is it a freesound?

i didn’t play it myself, but i did use a Digital Audio Workstation

Sounds really nice. But yeah, some drums would be pretty cool.

So I think switching up chords rather than using I vi IV throughout the entire time can add more interest to the piece. It’s nice how you changed up the melodies but there’s still so much more you can do!

It does make rather quite nice background music though so if you use it in game I guess it’d fit as music for a lobby, loading screen, etc.
