I have an issue with a few decals I recently uploaded for a chapter select screen in a game I’m working on. I’m using images to create a parallax effect.
At first everything looked perfect as intended in this video.
But then I checked back about 10 minutes later, and all the images I uploaded had become noticeably lower quality with visible rasterization even showing lines in thin air around the image borders.
You can see the faint lines going through the middle of the image and around some of the edges of some uploaded images.
Here’s a closer look at the problem:
This image became jagged after I came back to studio, you can see it better in the green glasses and hands.
At first, I thought it was an issue with the file size, but the version of the image above was only 300 Pixels wide and had the same problem.
This is another example, there are visible pixels in the image and color distortion.
I tried multiple things to fix this…
- Reducing the image size.
- Running the images through an alpha bleed tool to try and fix the edges.
- Deleting other images inside of my game in case there’s some kind of decal limit.
but nothing worked.
The older images inside my game before today remain in full HD, it’s only these new images that I’m uploading that keep getting degraded. They aren’t even as big as other images I’ve uploaded.
My question is… What do I do? Why now? Is there anything I can do to ensure the fullest quality out of my uploads? Because clearly Roblox is capable of displaying the images in full HD. They look perfect for the first few minutes, then they get compressed out of nowhere.
