My edits got wiped by "system" editing my image links

I made this feature request thread, but realized I hadn’t followed the format, so I edited it to better follow the format.

Well, in the middle of doing that, I noticed this:

I ignored it, finished my edits, and applied. Turns out my edits were overwritten by “system” having a lock on my thread.

It edited the images to be local copies. That’s fine of course, but it was certainly confusing behavior given I’ve never used Discourse outside of the forum. Some better user-facing info here would be appreciated; either that or delaying system edits until a user isn’t actually editing their post anymore.

This is intended, not a lot they can do there. Just wait a few seconds before editing a post if you have external images.

We don’t have any plans to change anything here, this is a default Discourse feature and we don’t really see this feedback often. If this only reproduces on DevForum and not on other Discourse sites though, let us know.
