Hey everyone! I’m the developer of a Roblox game called Mingle Madness, and I recently sponsored it to bring in new players for about 10 days (there’s ~3 days of sponsor left). The game’s a fast-paced social elimination experience, similar to other “mingle” games already on the platform, except it has a few twists: there are game modes (& round modifieras) and a shop where players can buy items.
Despite my game being mechanically similar to others in the same niche (except mine has more fun features in my opinion), I wonder why the stats are so low?
I’m aware that players coming from Sponsors are usually really young and are difficult to keep engaged unless there are 50 million bright things happening on screen, but I genuinely believe my game isn’t as bad as the retention stats make it look.
I may be wrong, though, which is why I am asking you guys!
I’d really appreciate any feedback on how to improve the onboarding and keep players coming back. Should I add a tutorial, first-time prompts, or something else? What’s helped you improve retention with a new game on Roblox, especially in chaotic or social environments?
when I clicked on it, which it did not have an X to close it… a pain… , now does not open up the UI, it just keeps prompting me to buy…
what does Push even do?
when I search for a door and get in a room, I always die… how do I know how many players need to go in the room, before I die and it tells me how many are needed?
if I ever did win, what is the benefit of it? perhaps getting on the leader board?
what is your core game loop, to engage players and they want to play more…
the cash bridge thing, I just ran across… is it supposed to be harder?
if other games are like this , and have less… I have no idea why they have more retention… but then again, I think that of a number of games that have high retention…
gear shop… what do the gears even do… are there descriptions of them?
I played for awhile so you should see higher the 6.3 mins… perhaps
Thank you for the feedback, I really appreciate it!
Was this screen on for too long? If so, it might be a bug. In that case I would love if you could report it on my support server.
The button just prompts you with the gamepass, that’s its intended function.
Pressing F will push somebody (keybind is mentioned in the description as well as server chat messages), and buying ULTRA PUSH increases your push force.
I don’t understand this question. There is a big red text that says exactly how many players should be in a room right when the timer starts to get in the doors.
You get cash you can use in the shop to buy tools (and yes, get on the leaderboard).
You’re supposed to jump one by one guessing which one is correct, kind of like a Roblox obby. Does it not work that way?
Other games are even more barebones. Their lobbies are empty and they have no gear or game modes and yet they still get a lot of people joining and playing properly! I just don’t get what I’m doing wrong!
‘You’re supposed to jump one by one guessing which one is correct, kind of like a Roblox obby. Does it not work that way?’… as mentioned, I just quickly ran straight and never fell down
I’m sorry you had this experience, I’ve tried it myself several times and I can’t seem to replicate it.
Either way, looking into this eventually made me reconsider a few choices on how I positioned things around the lobby. I also fixed a few minor glitches that perhaps were the cause of your indefinite black screen.
Would love if you could try it out again and see if you like it more! I also took into account a few of your criticisms and I hope the game is designed a bit better now.
I later won some more like 4 times, and only once did it give me the win..
also perhaps if you win, have all the doors open up, so people know to run out and see the winning sparks particle confetti thingy… and or also do the confetti in side the rooms? since it appears sometime you are in the winning room , but don’t see the effect…
maybe..
or something.. I assume there is sound when you win.. or something exciting…
also why is there and intermission countdown, then a voting count down, then another intermission countdown..?..
also there was some sporraic flinging or knocking down of me and other players… unless maybe someone pushed me or whatever if that exists. perhaps that was what it was… is there like a particle effect when you get pushed to add some extra shizzle to it? I do not have my sound on,… so maybe there is a sound.. if not that should be added..
there is also that QA Central discord site, that will test out your game … it is in resouces some where… perhaps do that to get some more feed back.. I have heard they do a good job reviewing the games
