Hi everyone,
I recently had one of my emotes taken down because of a copyright claim from a creator named alonefact. Roblox immediately removed the asset after the report, which really caught me off guard.
I filed a counter notification right away, but it’s now been over 14 business days and I still haven’t received any proper response from the Copyright Team. The only thing I got after following up was a generic still under review message.
Mine was published earlier, and it’s made by myself I didn’t copy anyone. Because of this takedown, my emote was removed from sale and I’ve lost thousands of Robux, not to mention how frustrating this whole situation has been.
What I’m wondering is:
Does my emote actually count as copyright infringement in a case like this?
If it turns out to be a false/malicious claim, will Roblox restore the pending Robux after it’s reinstated?
Is there any better way to deal with these kinds of reports?
Right now, it honestly feels a bit unfair. Anyone can file a claim and my item gets taken down instantly, but when I try to fight back, the process drags on with no clear timeline.
Has anyone here experienced something similar or have any advice?
Small update on my situation:
The Copyright Team ended up restoring the animation asset, but they didn’t restore my actual Emote
When they took my asset down, they removed both the animation and the Emote at the same time, but in their DMCA notice they only listed the animation ID. So now they’ve only restored the animation file, and the Emote itself is still deleted.
Basically, I have to file another counter-notification for the Emote ID just because they didn’t include it in the original takedown. This honestly feels like a mistake in their process, since the Emote was tied to the same animation and got removed because of it
yeah that sounds about right with how roblox handles stuff. their support teams feel super uncoordinated half the time. i’ve said it before — roblox has a team for support that, in my opinion, is mostly younger people who just aren’t trained, intelligent, or even emotionally fit for that kind of job. but it’s not just the younger ones either — now you’ve got older people in there trying to be all corporate and “woke,” yet most of them don’t even play roblox or have real experience with how the platform actually works. they’re handling stuff they clearly don’t understand. the real issue isn’t even the workers themselves though, it’s the environment that creates and enables that type of setup. ever since roblox opened up to firms and went public, it’s all gone downhill — feels way more about image and money than actually supporting the community.
Update:
They finally restored my emote, and it’s now available again — which I’m really thankful for.
However, during the time it was taken down, around 500k pending Robux from its sales were refunded to buyers.
I’m wondering if there’s any way to get that pending Robux back, or if it’s permanently gone once refunds are processed.
Has anyone experienced something similar before? Any advice would really help.
