Hi! I’ll tell you about my project and show you what I get.
My project is about how your ship sells in a storm and the ship is crashing. You have to survive on the island for about 100 days or even more. You collect resources and will be able to build a house for a while so you can hide from wolves and monsters. And you can grow a garden with tomatoes, etc. Your task is to make a ship and sail away from the island, but the main part is deep in the cave, there will be a monster that will not let you take the parts just like that. When you collect your ship to the end. Then you will have a menu with the provision to continue the game (where you can continue to build houses and buildings and grow a garden, wolves and animals will be, but there is no monster.
The game will be designed for 1 person. (In beta testing) In beta testing I plan to make it collect resources, etc. and have the ability to build. (In beta testing there will be no ability to save, (in the release it will be saved automatically))
You might ask if there will be multiplayer, there will be, but after official release.
The beta may come out in six months (in the first beta there will be hunger and eating food and cooking it, and every Friday I will add something new) And the official release will probably be in 1-2 years.
the gameplay seems boring to me seeing as i dont care for survival games, the only thing i can say is that this looks like it would only be fun with friends
with the current visuals, my rating is gonna be a 4 just because they arent too impressive for a realistic looking game, there isnt enough variety in the environment and is pretty barebone. grass, leaf, log textures lug ugly imo, not really much else to say
This game sounds fun. I can tell you that I would try it out if I saw it on my homepage without hearing of it previously.
I would only wonder, is the island randomly generated, or does it stay the same? With survival games like this, unless you have a lot of variance in animal encounters or building or whatever, it would be hard to keep playing if every game plays the same. Randomly generated maps are an easy solution since they guarantee a switch-up in strategy and can instill curiosity if there are new biomes, structures, etc. that weren’t in the previous map.
Assuming you are a solo dev, I would go the route of deepening the survival experience to have varied animal encounters and such. Making a random map generator is hard since the game usually looks different as a result. Currently, you have beautiful environments that would be hard to replicate in a random map generator. So I say keep what you have and expand on it.
This game would shine if there are a lot of things to see and do on the island. I hope you are able to make this game for me and others to try!
I had a lot of ideas for this game. But I realized that I can’t write scripts, etc.And I decided to make a game for vibe, where you can talk to a friend or something like that.
A game without scripting is a dead game in the literal sense of being unanimated. I would highly recommend you learn to script. It’s hard to make an enjoyable game otherwise.
Yes, I think if you are going for a survival game you need to have a pretty solid gathering and building system first, enemies come later. If the gathering/crafting is fun (and yes, you will need scripting), then move on to the next step which IMO would be the elements (thirst, hunger, cold) and the enemies (creatures, bosses).
Hope this helps. Good luck!
large ideas for someone that does simple scripts, should maybe do a smaller project if you’re inexperienced but if you’re committing then continue i suppose
In my opinion, add a mine and add slime, 3 types of slime.
For example, green slime should be at the beginning of the mine, then blue slime should be in the middle of the mine, which is icy, meaning that the mine is first rocky, then icy, and then deep underground, the mine is molten. You can add red or molten slime.
In my opinion, add wooden armor, leather armor, stone armor, and iron armor.
You can add magic for the sword, meaning that there should be a wizard or angel on the island, so that we can get magic with the resources we gave him and apply the magic to the sword.
For example, light magic, which increases damage and throws the enemy away, and anyone who gets close will be damaged by the light.
