My Sparetime Project

Hello everyone!

Recently I was bored and decided to try making some UI for a change. I think it came out pretty well, what do you guys think?

This UI is not intended for any of my games FYI.

I like the style you have done for it, It doesn’t look copy as most games would do with really bright vibrant colors! :blue_heart:

Thank you so much! The reason for lack of super vibrant colors and instead chill and soothing colors is because 1. They put a strain on the eyes sometimes and chill colors are relaxing to look at, and 2. The colors were chosen since they match the vibe of the blue of the panels.

Most of them end up with White background or gray/dark gray colors, which can get old real fast.

Yeah, that is very correct. The key for great UI is a color palette that sets the mood and does not get boring to look at.

How do you get such amazing colour palettes? The UI is amazing by the way!

Very true, and keep up the great work!

My usual technique goes something like this:

  1. Establish target style (pastel, realistic, etc.)
  2. Find 2 background colors and 1 foreground colors keeping in mind your target style. (Use color wheels and pick either contrasting colors or the same shades of two colors. For the Foreground, pick a darker shade of one of the colors.)
  3. Allow for the two colors to blend or be used for the same aspect.
  4. Use the foreground color for your main stuff, only doing slight tweaks

I don’t know what this method is called but for lack of a better name, I’ll call it the Eternal Coloring Method. These steps are prevalent in the UI as well.

the purple background kinda looks like purpur blocks from Minecraft
