Need design feedback on this new mechanic for my game

Hey everyone,
I recently made a “sonar” scan type mechanic for my game, inspired by the sonar vision technology in The Dark Knight movie. I’m not the best at design elements, and I don’t know how to make this mechanic more appealing.

  • The player can activate the sonar at will.
  • It briefly reveals other players/entities in the environment with glowing pulses or silhouettes.
  • The effect is visual—pulses/waves highlight targets through obstacles.

I’m looking for feedback about:

  1. Visual design. Colors, glow, animation, or ways to make it feel more engaging or intuitive.
  2. How it communicates information
  3. Creative ideas to make the mechanic more interesting or strategic
  4. Anything else that improves the player experience or the aesthetic of the effect.

Thank you!

Can you post some devforum screenshots or devforum videos

The video i recorded is larger than 10 mb so I instead used flickr,

Maybe don’t make the walls straight up transparent, and instead just use the always on top property of the highlight instance, to allow it to show through them maybe also colour code it to better distinguish friend, foe and environment, so green friend red foes blue environment.
(I am just describing halo 4’s promethean vision armour ability.(I’ll search up some videos of it for you.))
EDIT: Actualy heres the halopedia article it has images at the bottom: Z-5080 Short-Range Spectrum Augmenter/Vision - Weapon - Halopedia, the Halo wiki
