Need help on improving the atmosphere

Hey there, i build this cc for SCP-009, it took me two days to get this far. I dont want any feedback on how the cc looks, because im not done yet. I only want some feedback on the atmosphere like the lights, because im not very happy how the atmosphere is. I worked on it today two hours only to get the atmosphere what it is now, but like i said, for me it looks a bit weird.

Picture

maybe make the ambiance a bit darker in the lighting, and remove the point lights. But, if you want, dim the pointlights and make more of them so it looks at least a bit lit up so people can see

Thx for your idea, im gonna try it tomorrow (btw i only used surface lights)

Try adding things like catwalks, barrels, fences, or automated weapons to make the room seem more filled, I also recommend adding pipes and other security features that make it look not only more secure but also better filled.

Also, thx for your ideas, but automated guns could be difficult. But i really like your idea of adding catwalks

add chemical tanks, corridors, chambers, spilled liquid, etc.

I actually think some of those would be a bad idea, considering this is a proper secure and well-kept facility I don’t think they would leave random chemicals around.

I think something important you should understand is how to evenly distribute your shadows and make the colors look more atmospheric.

I think making your general ambience here just overall lighter would be useful (not so much outdoor ambience). I’m not sure if you’re using a more yellowish ambience for your lighting already, but you could probably set your lighting to something closer to white/grey.

In addition, watch your distribution of light. I’m not sure if you’re using surface lights on the surface of your neon, but I seriously recommend getting a more simple invisible lamp setup and have the neon not emit light. If you’re already doing that, just make sure all the corners you want getting light are getting light, and if you don’t want light in the top make sure you’re using something like a spotlight that doesn’t hit 360 degrees of the room.

you are right if it was a neglected nuclear plant like the simpsons there is if there would have been toxic liquid on the floor thanks for correcting me

Thx for all the tipps! Im gonna try them today. Currently the neons are emitting the light and i only use one invisible lamp. And im also gonna try to make the light less yellow.

Make the atmosphere a bit darker and add some red lights.

It looks rather empty, so I suggest place object on the floor or make like paths on the floor to make everything a bit more detailed.

There’s you mistake, for more cinematic or crisp lighting effects I’d shy away from surface lights and make the light more directional. I’d darken the room as a whole adding a point light with a dark tinge pointing at the platform and some light casting down onto other areas but in smaller pockets. (Some slight fog could do good or grainy feed on camera?)

Good luck!
