Meanwhile this is the lighting i am going for, very different right?
help will be greatly appreiciated as im completely lost on how to do this as normally i am fine with lighting
STEPS LEADING TO SOLOUTION:
To get the desired changes i started off with changing the lighting to a more orange, then i decided it would be better to change the lights to wall lights to give off a better atmospheric affect, i then changed the lights to surface lights suggested by @Scottifly which gave off a much better effect and turned the shadow softness up after a suggestion from @absentdenik this is the changed picture:
Also change the other settings in Lighting.
I’m guessing from the wall shadows that you have very thin walls (less than 4 studs) and the Ambient/outdoorAmbient lighting is showing through.
Do you have ShadowsEnabled set to true?
Spot lights are fine, maybe SurfaceLights would be better since your square lights would project out better.
Lights don’t tend to work well for distances less than 6 studs or so.
Also you can change the colour of each light to more orange instead of the actual place Lighting like @IndigoBug stated. Of course if the entire place is set inside and all the interior lights work well using Lighting with the colour changed then it’s fine.
