*Hi! You obviously don’t know me but I’m a model designer and a most of the time scripter. *
So the main problem I have…
I’m quite new to blender and I don’t know anything about it except putting a reference image. I need help with: Controls, How to Build the Car and a simple tutorial link for me to get on my way of developing my game!
EDIT: I may of confused you a bit. I meant the Body of a car is what I’m modeling but its quite hard. I hope you have a wonderful Day / Night!
Pretty sure there’s thousands of tutorials on youtube to script/model a car but I would just first make a simple model and follow Roblox’s own made tutorial on how to make a car
then you can start focussing on the model.
Hopefully this helps!
Oh ok well I don’t have the best building skills so I don’t know where to go from here. You could either wait for a builder to come or watch some modelling tutorials
If you are looking to make a proper car, blender is really good. It is all about taking into account all 3 axis, is your mesh high enough, is it wide enough and is it long enough. Having a front and side and overhead view are useful but if you cannot get them don’t worry. A lot of blender mesh makers (including me) try to get the basic shape first (using these reference photos) but once we have done that we judge the more specific detailing by eye.
Make sure you have enough tri’s, often times people don’t use enough triangles when making blender models and it means you cannot make the smooth surfaces as it is too sharp, to combat this using the Loop Cut to evenly distribute cuts to allow you to easily manipulate the shape.
If you are trying to make a proper car you will need smooth surfaces, in order to do this in object mode right click and choose shade smooth and then go to menu bar on the right hand side of the screen and click the little button that looks like 3 green boxes in a triangle shape called “Object Data Properties” and go to “Normals” and then “AutoSmooth” this will allow you to only smooth a certain percentage of the vehicle (depending on the angles of the edges) and is incredibly useful. An alternative to this is the modifier “Edge Split” which works similarly and I recommend you play with both to see what works for you.
I find getting the outline of the vehicle made is best (i.e the cross section of the vehicle and then working to make the rest of it. I find the best thing to do is to insert a plane and then 3 of the 4 vertices and then use that vertice to make the cross section, use E to make new vertices.
To make faces (i.e the actual surfaces) Use F (MAKE SURE TO ONLY MAKE QUADS (4 VERTICIES MAKING A SQUARE OR TRIANGLES ( 3 VERITICES TO MAKE A TRIANGLE) This is very important as anything more will make UV mapping textures a nightmare and the actual surfaces might appear buggy). I hope this information helps if you need any other help feel free to respond to this message with screenshots of where you are confused.
My main suggestion to you is to learn the basics of Blender before launching into anything too complex, like a car. You need to learn controls and basic concepts of modeling/modeling flow. I know this gets recommended so much it’s basically a meme, but try Blender Guru’s basic donut tutorials. These helped me a lot with getting to know controls and some basic concepts of modeling. After that, you can start focusing on improving at hard surface modeling seeing as it sounds like the cars you intend to model are fairly high poly.
